I’m having problems charging my SMART Brick

Here's how to see if your SMART Brick is charging correctly and some tips for what to check if you’re having problems:

    • When you put the SMART Brick on the SMART Charger, a white light should come on for a few seconds and then fade away. That tells you it’s charging correctly.
    • If the brick doesn’t show any lights when you put it on the charger, it could be that it’s actually fully charged. Take it off the charger and give it a good shake back and forth and see if it wakes up (it’ll play a sound).
    • The SMART Charger doesn’t work if it’s standing on a metal surface – make sure it’s on a table or shelf made from another material like wood, glass or plastic. If you’re using two chargers at the same time, make sure they’re at least 20 cm apart.
    • When you take it off the charger, the brick will turn on a light to tell you how full it is.
      • A green light and a bright chirping sound means it’s fully charged.
      • A yellow light and a lower-pitched sound means there’s still a bit of play time left.
      • Orange or red and a power-down sound tells you it’s running low and needs to charge for about 2.5 hours.
    • If you see a red light come on right when you put it on the charger, the brick is too hot and needs to cool down. Take it off the charger and leave it somewhere cool for a while before trying again. You’ll know it’s charging correctly when it flashes a white light for a few seconds when taken off the charger.
    • If the brick isn’t showing any lights when you take it off the charger, try changing the charger’s USB-C cable and wall adapter before trying again.
    • If the brick flashes an orange light three times when you put it on the charger, the battery is completely dead and needs to charge a little longer before it will do anything.
    • If none of these steps work, there could be a problem with the brick. Give us a call or drop us a line and we’ll be happy to help!

    Top tips for charging:

    • Make sure the charger is plugged in
    • Make sure the charger isn’t standing on a metal surface or close to another wireless charger.
    • Make sure the brick is placed in the charging area with the studs facing up. It won’t charge correctly if it’s placed on its side or outside of the recessed charging area.
