It seemed a shame to go to the trouble of simulating the real Sián gearbox, only to hide it inside the model. So Senior Designer Uwe Wabra decided to create a small ‘window’ on the underside to enable viewing of the gearing system at work.
Both the famous V12 engine and pushrod suspension system are important elements of the Sián FKP 37’s DNA, so the LEGO® Technic™ design team stretched the Technic building system to recreate them. Watch Senior Design Manager Jeppe Juul Jensen explain the challenges along the way.
LEGO® Technic™ designers take pride in trying to create models using as many existing Technic elements as possible. But to truly capture the dramatic curves of the Sián FKP 37, the team needed to create a few new elements. Listen as Design Master Markus Kossmann explains the process.
There is nothing that beats the drama of a rear spoiler moving elegantly into place on a super sports car like the Lamborghini Sián FKP 37. Senior Designer Uwe Wabra was determined to recreate that movement, even if it did give him some serious design and mechanical challenges.
It’s difficult enough to replicate the iconic ‘scissor’ doors of a Lamborghini, but it’s an even bigger challenge to create the mechanism that allows them to swing up elegantly, like the real Sián. Watch as Senior Designer Uwe Wabra explains the hard work that went into these small but vital details.
The unique rims are such an eye-catching part of the overall Sián FKP 37’s design that the LEGO® Technic team knew they couldn’t truly replicate the super sports car if they didn’t recreate its rims. Daniel Sri Sudarsono, Senior Designer, made it happen, and explains the challenges.
