LEGO® Pokémon™ SMART Play™: Charizard vs. Jolteon Ultimate Battle (72167)

Trainers, let’s explore the first All-in-One set – an adventure you and your child don’t want to miss! As you know, being a Pokémon Trainer is all about epic battles with your Pokémon team, and this set is your child’s gateway to exactly that adventure. The LEGO® Pokémon™ SMART Play™: Charizard vs. Jolteon Ultimate Battle set (72167) is made for Trainers aged 8 and up and features two of the most beloved Pokémon: Charizard, the iconic fire-breathing Fire- and Flying-type Pokémon, and Jolteon, the electrifying Electric-type Evolution of the fan-favorite Eevee.

Role-playing with LEGO Charizard and LEGO Jolteon

Both LEGO Charizard and LEGO Jolteon have a SMART Tag hidden inside their bellies, so kids can jump right into interactive play once they place on the SMART Brick. Wake them with a gentle shake, tickle them to spark joy and hear their giggles, or take them on a high-speed adventure. As your child flies around with LEGO Charizard in their hand, they’ll hear the sounds of its wings flapping as it moves through the air – whooaa, maybe not too fast, or it might get dizzy. Or take LEGO Jolteon for a race across the room and hear the wind whoosh as it dashes by your child’s side. Your child can also place LEGO Charizard and LEGO Jolteon together, and they’ll start interacting – using their own unique voices.

Your child is the Trainer, and they set the course. Whatever adventure they imagine, their LEGO® Pokémon™ creature will respond to every move and storyline. How cool is that?!

1. LEGO® Pokémon™ Training Activity Play

Now, let’s train! Take the LEGO® Pokémon™ creature all the way up to the training mountain and place it in front of the Training Tag to unlock a training sequence. The music is your cue – once it starts, the training session can begin. Use LEGO Charizard or LEGO Jolteon to battle and train, all while thrilling battle sounds fill the air. The goal? Train as much as possible to boost the Pokémon’s strength and attack levels.

Your child can come back anytime for another training session. Just place the Pokémon near the Training Tag again, and your child will be set for another round!

2. Healing Spray

Keeping the LEGO® Pokémon™ creatures in peak condition takes more than just training. It also means giving them Healing Sprays. When your child’s Pokémon needs a health boost, simply give it a Healing Spray during battles, between training sessions, or any time they need a little extra care.

3. LEGO® Pokémon™ Battle Play

Get ready for one of the most exciting features. Drumroll, please… your child’s LEGO® Pokémon™ creatures can actually battle… against each other!

A Pokémon Trainer’s ultimate goal is to become a Pokémon champion through battles. And with battles also come fun social play. With two SMART Bricks (included in this set), you and your child can start epic head-to-head battles using your LEGO® Pokémon™ creatures. Here’s how to get started:

Battle start: To begin a battle, each opponent must bring each of their LEGO® Pokémon™ creatures close to each other and give them a wiggle from side to side to charge them for battle. Once you hear the battle music, the battle begins!
Fast attacks: Attacks are easy to make. Wiggle your LEGO® Pokémon™ creature in a range of the other to do a fast attack. Each fast attack does a specific amount of damage depending on the LEGO® Pokémon™ creature you use to battle with.
Block or dodge: Attacks can be avoided, but only if you block or dodge. To do that, you need to be quick on your feet (and hands) and move your LEGO® Pokémon™ creature back and away from battle.
Charged attack: Want to boost your winning chances? Try a charged attack! While you’re in battle mode, move your LEGO® Pokémon™ creature some distance away from your opponent and then wiggle it to start charging. Listen for the rising voltage sounds, then aim your LEGO® Pokémon™ creature at your opponent to unleash the attack.
Battle end: When one LEGO® Pokémon™ creature loses all its health, the battle is over. The winning LEGO® Pokémon™ creature will light up in green, and victory music will play! Hurray!

As you can see, LEGO® Pokémon™ battles are strategic and depend on your Trainer’s skills and tactics. And here’s a tip: every LEGO® Pokémon™ creature your child collects from the LEGO® Pokémon™ SMART Play™ sets can join the battle, so your child can build their dream team and see who comes out on top!

LEGO® Pokémon™ SMART Play™: Training House with Pikachu (72164)

Next up is the Training House with Pikachu (72164). An All-in-One set that is all about training and caring for one of the most iconic Pokémon ever: LEGO Pikachu! Packed with the complete set of SMART Play™ technology: a SMART Brick, a SMART Charger (and cable), and four SMART Tags, this set lets young Trainers aged 6 and up build, roleplay, feed, nurture, and practice their catching skills on one of the most beloved Pokémon ever.

Role-playing with LEGO Pikachu

As with every LEGO® Pokémon™ creature found in the LEGO® Pokémon™ SMART Play™ sets, LEGO Pikachu also has a SMART Tag hidden in its belly. Place on the SMART Brick, give LEGO Pikachu a little shake to wake it up, and listen as it starts calling out ready for adventure. Your child can take LEGO Pikachu for a stroll and hear its tiny footsteps pattering along, or they can give LEGO Pikachu a playful tickle to hear its cheerful giggle. Remember, your child’s the Trainer now, so whatever adventure LEGO Pikachu embarks on is shaped by their imagination.

LEGO® Pokémon™ Feeding and Nurture Play

Just wait till you both hear LEGO Pickachu’s adorable munching sounds! With this set, your child can feed LEGO Pikachu a tasty sandwich filled with not only delicious toppings, but also a SMART Tag. To feed LEGO Pikachu, point the sandwich with the SMART Tag towards LEGO Pickachu… and let the munching begin! LEGO Pikachu needs a moment to chew, so remember to pause in between bites. Oh, and LEGO Pikachu isn’t always in the mood to eat… So, don’t worry if it turns down your sandwich the first time. Just try again later, and you’ll both quickly know whether LEGO Pikachu likes it or not.

LEGO® Pokémon™ Catch Play

Try your hand at a catch game with LEGO Pikachu… one of our favorite activities! Within this set, you’ll find a game that tests you and your child’s skills and sharpens each of your Trainer’s eyes. Place LEGO Pikachu behind the tall grass, and when the music starts, it’s game time! Aim for the target with the Poké Ball. If you or your child hits the target, the tall grass will open, and (woohoo!) LEGO Pikachu will show, and festive music will play. Great catch, Trainers!

LEGO® Pokémon™ Training Activity Play

It’s time to train LEGO Pikachu for battle! Bring LEGO Pikachu to the training dummy and place it on the Training Tag. Music will play, and the countdown begins: 3… 2… 1… battle time! Move LEGO Pikachu quickly to trigger attack sounds as your child hits the dummy. Listen as LEGO Pikachu levels up in attack mode – the goal is to reach the highest level possible. When the session ends, your child can put LEGO Pikachu back down and watch its reaction to see the effects of the training practice.
