Help with LEGO® Powered Up

If you’ve got any issues with your LEGO® Powered Up parts or app, we’re here to help you get back on track. Here are some tips and tricks to try and get things running again.

I’m having a problem with the Powered Up app

Make sure your device is compatible. You can find minimum system requirements here. It’s important that you have Bluetooth version 4.1 or higher. LEGO Powered Up elements connect with the app using Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and won’t work without it.

If you’re using an Android device, turn on your location permissions. This needs to be done so the app and hub can “talk” to each other.

It can help to delete the app from your device and download it again. You’ll find app store links here. You can also contact us and we’ll be happy to help you out. When you get in touch, make sure to mention any troubleshooting you’ve already tried and let us know the make and model of your device.

Connecting the Powered Up Smart Hub with the app or remote control

To connect a Smart Hub and a remote, press the green button on both the hub and the remote. They’ll both flash a white light for a few seconds, then turn the same solid color.

To connect a Smart Hub with the Powered Up app, tap the green button while you have the app open on your tablet or smartphone. The hub will display a blue light once connected to the app.

LEGO Powered Up devices have a range of approximately 30 feet (10 meters). Distance varies with battery levels and interference in the play area. If you lose connection while playing, make sure your model isn’t too far away!

Can I control multiple Smart Hubs at the same time?

With the Powered Up remote control, yes! You can control up to five hubs with one remote. Here’s how to connect a second (or third, fourth or fifth) hub to your remote:

  1. Press the green button on the next Smart Hub
  2.  Press and hold the green button on the remote and the Smart Hub
  3.  Once connected, the lights will stop flashing and change into a solid color
  4.  Release the buttons, and you’re good to go!

You can switch between hubs by pressing the green button on the remote. When the light on the remote and hub match, they’re on the same channel and working together.

The app currently only allows one hub at a time to be connected. You can easily switch between multiple hubs by tapping the Bluetooth symbol in the upper left of the screen (see picture below).

This shows you all the available hubs and their battery levels. Just tap the one you want to connect with.
You can even give your hubs different names so you don’t mix them up!

Resetting the Smart Hub

After a Powered Up Hub and remote have been connected once, they'll remember each other next time you turn them on together. To reset the connections, press and hold the green button until the light switches off. Then release the button and let the hub shut down. You can tell it’s off when the lights stop flashing.

Sound isn’t working

All sounds come from the app, not the models themselves, so if you’re not hearing anything make sure your device’s volume is turned up.
