Introducing LEGO® Dragon Ball

Make your wish come true with LEGO® Icons Dragon Ball Shenron & Goku

It is impossible not to be drawn in by the adventures of Son Goku: a boy with a monkey tail, riding Kintoun, and going through his adventures. Once all seven Dragon Balls were gathered, it was time to summon Shenron and make a wish.

This action-packed story turned Dragon Ball into one of the world’s biggest anime franchises of all time. After evolving into different series, several movies, and video games, it has captivated audiences worldwide for decades. Now, it has its first-ever LEGO® set.

To learn more about the product, here are some details.

Back to where it all started

The Dragon Ball franchise is packed with iconic moments. For this first-ever set, the very beginning of the story is featured – instead of a scene from its later sagas.

The story of Dragon Ball begins when Goku meets Bulma and learns about the existence of the Dragon Balls (and the wishes they can grant). For that reason, the set captures both the beginning of the story, represented by Goku, and an iconic symbol represented by Shenron. By bringing these two elements together in a single set, the set conveys a sense of a journey: from beginning to end.

A concept that carries through the art on the box of the LEGO Icons Dragon Ball: Shenron & Goku set itself, with Goku holding the Four-Star Ball that ignites the whole saga.

A dragon unlike any other

Shenron is the center of attention in this set: Its coiling figure measures over 12.5 in. (32 cm) tall, rising from a base with seven Dragon Balls. Its sheer scale and dynamic pose set it apart from other LEGO dragon builds.

The silhouette twists and coils through the sky, into something structurally stable.

To make Shenron appear as though it was suspended in mid-air, the base and the structural supports are connected with minimum points. Once the right balance is established, the overall shape and silhouette is achieved.

The L-shaped structural support provides the necessary strength while remaining as hidden as possible behind Shenron’s body, and avoids distractions from Shenron’s pose.

Crafted down to the last detail

This set would not be complete without Goku and his iconic ride: Kintoun Flying Nimbus, a strange cloud that can only carry people with innocent hearts. The Kid Goku minifigure is fully detachable from his Kintoun (Flying Nimbus), so fans can pose him mid-flight beside Shenron or display him separately.

Goku and the Kintoun (Flying Nimbus) are detachable, giving consumers the flexibility to display them in different ways and in whatever position they prefer.

If you look closely at the base, you’ll spot something special: seven small round orange bricks representing the seven Dragon Balls that summon Shenron.

It’s a subtle detail hoped to give fans a little extra sense of discovery and connection to the story.

The result is a stunning display model that is not only structurally stable and thoughtfully engineered, but a rewarding and enjoyable build.
