How to Display LEGO® F1® Sets

Build an Epic Vertical LEGO® F1 Speed Champions Display

Looking for a stylish way to show off your LEGO® F1 Speed Champions builds? You’ve parked in the right place. We’ve got all the inspiration you need to proudly display your motorsport creations – while saving space and adding serious flair.

Best of all, it’s totally customizable, so you can bring your own brilliant ideas and personality to the pit stop, going beyond the original build.

It’s amazing what you can create with LEGO bricks, a baseplate and a pegboard.

Let’s take a look, shall we?

    Step 1: Measure up

Start by measuring your built F1 Speed Champion cars – precision is key! Take a 32x32 baseplate and lay out the cars across as many plates as needed to work out the spacing and position for each one. How you want to arrange them is totally up to you!

    Step 2: Position

To connect the cars and position them onto the plates, consider using 2x2 and 1x2 LEGO bricks. Having each car connected to the baseplate in two places will ensure they are secure when vertical. Using bricks to connect the cars also allows for them to be raised slightly so that there is space on the baseplates to be decorated with tiles of your choice.

Top tip! Create a smooth, stud-less finish for the base using a tiling effect.

    Step 3: Design

Add your own flair to the build. You could go for a starting grid layout or shake things up! How about a two-tone design inspired by your favorite F1 racing kit? Or a zigzag for a speedy skid mark effect? Use your 2x2 and 1x2 bricks to mark your car positions, then place tiles around these according to your design.

Top tip! Tiles can be tricky to remove – place them in position until you’re happy, then press down firmly.

Step 4: Mounting to the pegboard

How do you connect the plates to the pegboard? By making brick channels. Create two lines of bricks with a one-stud gap. These channels will be used later to feed the bungee cords through, with each end hooking into the pegboard, pinning down the baseplate.

Mount the connected baseplates in pairs (connect together using plates) and secure them onto the pegboard using the bungee cords. By connecting two baseplates at a time, this enables you to ensure each is secure and in position before adding more. Once all four baseplates are on the pegboard, use some plates to join all four together and increase stability.

    Step 5: Finish line

All secure? Reach the finish line by carefully adding your F1 Speed Champion builds to your wall display one at a time.

Now you have the know-how, it’s time to grab your tools and get building! Need a little extra inspo to kick off your champion display? Try these:

    • Maybe position the cars at 90-degree angles to make a pattern using the liveries... they don’t all have to face the same way, this is art after all!
    • Create a cool gradient effect for the base
    • Put your favorite racer’s number into your build

    Enjoy!
