Discover the New LEGO® Pokémon™ Iconic Trainer Moments Poké Ball and LEGO®
Rayquaza, Ruler of the Skies

It all begins in Professor Oak’s lab

For a lot of accomplished Trainers, their Pokémon journey started with a Professor, a Lab and the choice of their first-ever partner Pokémon.

The LEGO® Pokémon™ Iconic Trainer Moments Poké Ball (72154) is a true tribute to the iconic beginnings of the Pokémon video game series and a rewarding experience for Adult Trainers who build it.

As Lee Magpili, the LEGO Senior Model Designer responsible for this set, puts it: “I hope people enjoy the experience of building as much as the finished product.” At 2,339 pieces, this set is a genuinely challenging build, packed with the kind of complex mechanisms that make the process just as satisfying as the finished result.

Open the top half to find a meticulous recreation of Professor Oak's laboratory from Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue, complete with a library, computers, three molded Poké Balls and two Pokédex tiles.

For the first time ever in a LEGO® Pokémon™ set, the cast comes to life through minifigures and molded figures; a milestone as exciting to build as it is to display. Professor Oak and the Red minifigure take centre stage, with Pikachu and Eevee rendered as molded figures true to their original designs.

According to Lee, the team is particularly proud of the molded Pokémon figures. He thinks that both Pikachu and Eevee will delight the fans as much as they delighted the designers.

All molded figures are made to minifigure scale in these sets (…) with clear intention in preserving the characteristics of each Pokémon, while adding the right amount of LEGO DNA to each character,” explains Mikkel Schou Nielsen, the LEGO Senior Element Designer behind its design.

The Red minifigure itself is a faithful recreation of a memorable and original protagonist of the franchise; an iconic figure whose journey through the Pokémon world helped define what it means to be a Trainer.

The lower half reveals a battle scene faithfully designed to recreate the battle screen and layout from the original video games. “We tried to create how the battle in the video game looked while going at it with your Pokémon”, Lee explains. The Picnicker minifigure rounds out the cast as a nod to the everyday Trainers across the routes, each one a small part of the larger tapestry that makes the Pokémon world feel so alive.

Finished off with a grassy display stand that makes it look freshly thrown in the heat of the battle, this Poké Ball captures the full spirit of a Trainer’s journey: from the first step out of Pallet Town to the very last. Have you already decided where you’re going to display it?

For the Trainers who love Rayquaza

At the far reaches of the Hoenn region stands the Sky Pillar: an ancient, weathered tower where only the bravest Trainers dare to climb. For fans of the franchise, it is one of the most well-known locations in the entire world.

The LEGO® Pokémon™ Rayquaza (72168) is more than a set. It’s a tribute to everything that makes the Sky Pillar unforgettable and a statement piece for Trainers who want to display their passion for Pokémon. Towering over 15 in. (38 cm), Rayquaza twists and turns above its cloud-topped Sky Pillar base, with its winding body fully posable. Reconfigure its tail and torso, then pose its jointed arms and head. Every angle is a statement.

It doesn’t come alone. Zinnia, the Draconid Trainer who trusted an iconic Pokémon with the fate of the world, is included as a minifigure. There she is with a Key Stone in hand, standing at the foot of the Sky Pillar right where she belongs.

When developing elements for the minifigures, we strive to design new elements making sure they fit in the LEGO® Pokémon™ universe – while having potential for reuse for more play,” Mikkel says.

Display it mounted on the base or detach it as a standalone piece. Either way, it will steal all the attention.

    Two sets, one universe

Together, the LEGO® Pokémon™ Iconic Trainer Moments Poké Ball (72154) and the LEGO® Pokémon™ Rayquaza (72168) sets tell the complete arc of what makes Pokémon so enduring: the humble beginning in Oak’s lab, the long road of battles and bonds and the climatic confrontation at the Sky Pillar.
