The LEGO Group's first factory in Asia, LEGO® Manufacturing Jiaxing, officially commenced operations in 2016 in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province. Located within the advanced manufacturing base of Jiaxing Economic and Technological Development Zone, the facility spans approximately 315,000 m2 and is equipped with moulding, processing, and packaging capabilities.

Over the past decade, the Jiaxing factory has undergone rapid growth and at the same time provided high-quality play experiences for children in Chinese and Asia-Pacific markets.

A closer look at manufacturing in Jiaxing

Our talented team works together to bring all kinds of LEGO magic to life. We turn plastic granules into millions of LEGO elements. We decorate minifigures and box up the finished packs, ready to be distributed. And we even have a team who focus on building the giant LEGO models you see in our stores and at LEGOLAND® parks.

Molding
We store and dry hundreds of tons of plastic granulate before heating it up to 230 to 310C and injecting it into moulds. We create millions of LEGO bricks of all shapes and colours every week and we make sure every single one is perfect.
Packaging
The first is where we pack elements into prepacks, making sure that not a single element gets missed out. In the second, we pack boxes with prepacks, instructions and smiles, ready to go to stores across the region. And we’re proud to be moving from plastic to paper-based packaging.
Processing
This is where we put faces on the world’s favourite LEGO characters. We assemble, decorate and produce around 850 different minifigures every year, as well as lots of other elements. Every day, we process around 1.5 million LEGO elements and half a million minifigures.
LEGO Model Production
If you see a large-scale LEGO model anywhere in the Asia-Pacific market, our team built it. From initial designs to final installation, our team creates awesome models that amaze fans across the region. They’ve built everything from superheroes and spaceships to giant pandas and the Great Wall. Who knows what they’ll make next?
