Sorting and storing your LEGO® bricks

There are just as many ways to sort and store your prized LEGO® bricks as there are ways to build with them! We’ve collected some of the more popular ways our fans sort their LEGO pieces to help you get started. Like creative building, there’s no right or wrong way to sort your beloved LEGO collection so find the way that works best for you. Most fans choose to sort their bricks by:

    • Color
    • Set
    • Size
    • Type

When it comes to storing your LEGO bricks, we always recommend that you store them somewhere that is dry and away from any heat source. It’s best not to store them in direct sunlight, or where the temperature exceeds 104° F (40° C) as this may cause bricks to become brittle or discolor over time.

The best way to store your LEGO pieces will greatly depend on how you’ve decided to sort them and how large your collection is. Our fans have come up with some wonderful ways to store their bricks, here are a few of their favorites:

    • Clear storage bins
    • Tool or craft boxes
    • Sandwich bags
    • Plastic drawer systems
    • Food storage containers
    • LEGO Storage bricks
    • Minifigure display cases
