Collecting the LEGO® The Lord of the Rings™ Minifigures

LEGO® The Lord of the Rings™ minifigures are known for their incredible detail, faithfully bringing Middle-earth’s most iconic characters to life. Here are some of our favorites that show you why they’re so great!

The LEGO Group first ventured into Middle-earth™ in 2012, and since then, the beloved theme has introduced 143 unique LEGO minifigures across six movies.

As fate would have it, LEGO Icons revived the theme in 2023 with THE LORD OF THE RINGS: RIVENDELL™ (10316), reigniting interest in J.R.R. Tolkien’s world and introducing a treasure trove of new characters for fans to collect.

Of course, we love all The Lord of the Rings minifigures – each one packed with incredible detail and character. But we tasked ourselves with narrowing this list down to just six that truly stand out.

From Aragorn™ to Sauron™ to Galadriel™, these figures capture the essence of Middle-earth like no others. That said, it’s hard not to mention the intricate helmet sculpt and beard integration on Gimli™, the burnished gold details of Haldir™, or the eerie ghoulish greens and exposed ribs of the King of the Dead. The list goes on… and the journey doesn’t end here.

    Galadriel

There has only been one Galadriel minifigure, appearing in Witch-king Battle (79015) in 2014, making her one of the rarest and most desirable The Lord of the Rings characters.

Her minifigure features elegant, flowing prints and a rare iridescent cape, with her legendary golden locks and silver tiara molded together.

No other Elven character embodies nobility, grace and wisdom quite like Galadriel, making her a fan favorite. Even in LEGO form, she shines brightest of all the Eldar!

    Aragorn

Ready for a true king in LEGO form? Aragorn is one of the most sought-after Fellowship of the Ring minifigures, particularly the Battle at the Black Gate (79007) version, and it’s easy to see why.

This minifigure features Aragorn at his most regal, with the White Tree of Gondor emblazoned on his dark blue surcoat. The detailing extends to the Evenstar pendant printed on his torso, symbolizing Arwen’s devotion to him (awh!).

    Sauron

2024 marked a milestone for LEGO The Lord of the Rings fans with the arrival of the Dark Lord himself in The Lord of the Rings: Barad-dûr™ (10333). After his appearance in video games and even as a poster in THE LORD OF THE RINGS: RIVENDELL (10316), fans finally got their hands on a proper minifigure of Sauron.

With his imposing crown, intricate armor printing across his entire body and an intimidating brick-built mace, this minifigure is one of the most faithful re-creations of a fictional character in LEGO form. Truly, one minifigure to rule them all!

    Long Robes Saruman

The original good boy gone bad – Saruman™ is an icon. And icons need presence. The Long Robes Saruman™ minifigure, appearing in The Tower of Orthanc™ (10237), is special for its unique long robes brick piece, which is different from the typical leg pieces of other Saruman minifigures. This detailed piece captures Saruman’s imposing stature with the flow of his robes, adding depth and authenticity to the figure.

    Gríma Wormtongue

Few villains in The Lord of the Rings are as insidious as Gríma Wormtongue™. As King Théoden’s chief advisor, he secretly served Saruman, weakening the king until Gandalf™ cast him out.

The Gríma Wormtongue minifigure is one of the rarest The Lord of the Rings villains, appearing only in The Tower of Orthanc (10237).

His defining features – sallow skin, sunken eyes and a calculating expression – perfectly capture his deceitful nature. His torso print, with dark, tattered robes and a subtle necklace, adds to the sinister look, making this minifigure as slippery and treacherous as the character himself!

    Uruk-hai

The Lord of the Rings is renowned for its epic battles, where alliances of Men and Elves clashed against monstrous orcs and Uruk-hai™.

Bred by Saruman, Uruk-hai were stronger, faster and deadlier than ordinary orcs. Their LEGO minifigures are highly sought-after by army builders – a fan subculture who amass minifigures to create battle displays.

There are four distinct Uruk-hai variants, each with unique details and attributes. But it’s the Uruk-hai with the handprint helmet that truly stands out. Featuring the iconic White Hand of Isengard™, it’s no wonder this variant is the most highly sought-after.

This Uruk-hai variant may not feel pain or fear, but it sure look amazing on display!

LEGO The Lord of the Rings is a treasure trove of beloved characters, with iconic figures brought to life in LEGO form. From the intricate designs to the meticulous attention to detail, these figures are a true celebration of Middle-earth. What does the future hold for LEGO The Lord of the Rings? Even the wisest cannot tell… but one thing’s for sure – the quality of these figures will only continue to impress.
