Building any LEGO Harry Potter™ set is a magical way to unwind and make impressive display-worthy pieces. But what if there was a way to make our builds even more enchanting, inject our own creativity and add a touch of magic to some of our favorite movie moments?
Amping up the atmosphere with a bigger base and creative outdoor additions, LEGO fan Christina shares her top tips for transforming The Burrow – Collectors’ Edition (76437) into a larger, more colorful scene. As an expert model maker, she knows the tricks to transform detailed, collectible sets into standout, unique displays.
First, Christina sets the scene for her magical transformation of The Burrow. “The set is perfect as a display piece, but I wanted to add more atmosphere by making a larger base,” she says. “I added a lot of space to create an outside area for the house, placing it on the left and using black bricks to frame the scene.”
With more space to work with, Christina got to work on the ground. “With the house on the left side, I could give the illusion of depth to the layout with the swamp in the foreground and house in the background,” she says. “I also added a typical English stone fence in the background behind the tree.” Christina also chose to keep the two side pieces on The Burrow to preserve the set as it was made and make the scene more realistic.
For this scene, Christina wanted to add pops of color and give a nod to Harry arriving at The Burrow for the first time in The Chamber of Secrets™. “I chose to make this scene with lots of leaves and colors of the fall season, and to make it cozier I added a cute wooden bench,” she explains. “To recreate this scene, I added the Flying Ford Anglia™ (76424) set that adds a nice contrast to the four different autumn colors in the tree.”
Chatting about her scene, Christina said, “I created the base for The Burrow so it can easily be removed and I’m still able to see the interior of the house or display it on the shelf without the bigger base.” She also tells us, “The house is very colorful with a lot of red and brown colors, and that inspired me to make the outdoor area the same. The scene isn’t specific, but should show the vibe of a nice, warm and welcoming house.” And we think Christina’s cozy scene has done a great job!
