An Alternate LEGO® Hogwarts™ Castle Owlery Build That’s Worthy of Hedwig™

Combine Two LEGO® Harry Potter™ Hogwarts™ Castle Owlery Sets into One Display-Worthy Tower

Looking to take your creativity and building skills to the next level? Then discover how one LEGO® fan transformed two playsets into an impressive, one-of-a-kind model…

Completing a LEGO set is a rewarding, hands-on activity. But did you know there’s even more to be gained from them? LEGO sets are what you make of them, and with creative, innovative thinking, they provide endless building opportunities.

For inspiration, and some valuable tips, we turned to LEGO fan Christina. A top-tier model maker, Christina explains how she reworked two LEGO Harry Potter™ Hogwarts™ Owlery (76430) sets to make one complete, enclosed tower – a piece she now proudly displays at home. Cool, right?

    Two to begin!

First, Christina built both sets separately. “One set is half a tower, so it was easy to imagine how, with some modifications, two sets could become one,” she says. “I kept one of the towers as close to the original as possible, so I only had to modify the second tower.”

    Top to bottom

When combining the models, it was easiest to build from the top down. “The original set has a roof that’s open at the back,” says Christina. “But with two sets, I could enclose the roof with the large cone pieces”. And once complete, useful spare pieces were left over…

    Chop and change

Due to the size and proportions of the models, lots of pieces and features had to be removed from the second tower – and some bricks added to the original. For the bases, Christina explains, “Since the large base plates are limiting, I switched them out for smaller pieces from the spare parts.” Nifty trick!

    Christina’s thoughts…

Describing her finished build, Christina told us, “I like that my now-enclosed castle is pretty from all angles. At the same time, it opens up like a dollhouse, which I think is a nice feature!” And we very much agree, Christina.

So, are you up for taking on this two-to-one LEGO building challenge? Or perhaps there are other sets you can combine to make one unique, eye-catching display piece? We’d love to see what you come up with!
