From strategy to impact. Meet Malak 📊

For Marisa, leadership means creating the conditions for others to succeed; bringing people together, building trust, and helping teams make decisions with clarity and confidence.
That perspective has been shaped by exploration, challenge, and a constant drive to grow.

Malak

For Malak, strategy has never been about theory. It is about turning ideas into action—and making sure that action delivers impact.
That mindset has shaped his career so far, and led him to LEGO® Education: the opportunity to work at scale, solve complex challenges, and contribute to something with real meaning.

“What drew me here was the chance to create impact—not just in theory, but in how students actually experience learning.” Malak, Business Development Director

  • Making complexity manageable

Malak began his career in consulting, building a strong foundation in strategic thinking across projects, industries, and clients.
That experience sharpened his ability to break down complex problems, structure thinking clearly, and influence decisions.

But over time, he was looking for something more.
“In consulting, you often help shape recommendations—but you don’t always see them through.”
He wanted to be closer to execution—to see how strategy plays out in practice and stay connected to the outcomes over time.

That led him into edtech, where he built deeper industry expertise before joining LEGO Education and bringing together strategy, execution, and purpose at scale.

Today, Malak works in business development and strategy, partnering with senior leaders to shape direction and drive execution across the organisation. His role sits at the intersection of multiple functions, connecting insights, priorities, and decisions across teams.
“A big part of my role is helping bring alignment—making sure we’re moving in the same direction as an organisation.”

In practice, that means supporting strategic planning, leading cross-functional projects, and turning high-level strategy into practical execution. His work helps make priorities clear, actionable, and understood—especially when direction shifts quickly and ambiguity is part of the day-to-day.

One of the biggest challenges in Malak’s role is complexity.
In a global organisation with multiple priorities and moving parts, clarity is not always given—it has to be created.
“We’re often working through complex problems with no single right answer. The challenge is to simplify that complexity into something people can actually act on.”

For Malak, that means turning broad strategic themes into concrete priorities, bringing together different perspectives, and building simple frameworks that guide decisions even when the path ahead is not fully defined.

One example was helping develop a simplified one-page strategic framework, bringing multiple inputs into a clear, shared direction.
“It sounds simple, but getting alignment on one clear plan is one of the most powerful things you can do.”

Working at pace without losing direction
Pace is one of the defining features of Malak’s role.
“It’s a fast-moving environment—there’s always something new, and priorities can evolve quickly.”

That pace brings both challenge and energy. It requires comfort with ambiguity, the ability to make decisions with incomplete information, and strong prioritisation. It also keeps the work engaging, because no two days are the same.
“It’s energising because you’re constantly learning, adapting, and solving new problems.”

Because Malak’s work cuts across functions, success depends less on control and more on collaboration.
“You need to bring people with you. It’s not about making decisions in isolation—it’s about building alignment.”

In practice, that means understanding different stakeholder perspectives, communicating clearly, and balancing challenge with flexibility. It also means knowing when to push, when to adapt, and how to keep people aligned around a shared direction.

One of the most rewarding parts of Malak’s role is seeing strategy translate into real-world impact. That became clear during a school visit, where he saw LEGO Education products being used in the classroom.
“Seeing how engaged the students were—that’s when it really connects. You realise the work isn’t abstract—it leads to something tangible.”

Moments like that connect strategic decisions to the experiences students have in the classroom, and reinforce why getting those decisions right matters.

  • Building on each other’s thinking

  • Empowered to make a difference

Strategic work means constantly questioning, refining, and improving.
Malak describes a culture where that is not only accepted, but expected.

“There’s a strong openness—you can challenge ideas, ask questions, and explore different ways of doing things.”
That openness matters in a strategy environment, where better outcomes come from diverse perspectives, constructive challenge, and continuous iteration. It also creates space for people to grow by taking on new challenges and expanding their scope over time.

Looking ahead, Malak is focused on deepening his impact through strategic influence and execution.

“I want to keep building my ability to operate across the business—to connect strategy with what actually happens on the ground.”
That means building enterprise thinking, strengthening stakeholder influence, and developing the confidence to navigate complexity across the business.
“Strategy only matters if it leads to action—and that’s where the real challenge and opportunity is.”

Malak’s story highlights a different dimension of working at LEGO Education: navigating complexity, driving alignment, and turning strategy into real impact.
It is about operating in ambiguity, connecting people and priorities, and making sure ideas become reality.
It is a role at the heart of the business, helping deliver meaningful outcomes at scale.
