- April 3rd, 2021Average rating5out of 5 stars5.0Space LoverLovissi |I would recommend this to a friend!Purchased for: SelfI purchased this for myself because I've always had a love for anything space related, and the Apollo programs. I will just say that the pictures do not do this product justice. It has amazing levels of details, and the size of the product is awesome! (It's seriously a good size product) Other than a few assembly issues that were a result of me misplacing the position of four blocks which threw the alignment of the engines off, and required me to tear it apart again (again this was totally my own fault). Everything went together smoothly and everything was properly documented, and easily readable,This product defiantly made for an awesome weekend project Thank You!Play Experience5.0Level of Difficulty3.0Value for Money5.0Build Time: 6 hrs 15 minsBuilding Experience: Intermediate LEGO builderWas this helpful?55LEGO® NASA Apollo Saturn V
- December 14th, 2020Average rating5out of 5 stars5.0Space HistoryI would recommend this to a friend!Purchased for: SelfI was thrilled when The Lego Group decided to reissue this set as I was really disappointed that I had come back to Lego too late to get it. It had been on my "want list" for a while and in the end I decided just to take the plunge and get it. I hadn't realised that it was not just the Saturn V rocket model but also included a small Lunar Landing Craft and the Landing Capsule which are nice little builds in their own right. The rocket itself uses some build techniques that were new to me and highly effective. I was worried in the early stages as it does look as though the exterior is made from tall curved pieces but these are merely internal structure and the outside uses tiling to create the heat panel effect. ALL of the detailing is via pre-printed bricks so NO stickers which is definitely a bonus. Build Time on this was extended because I got over confident and did not read the instructions properly so had issues connecting Stage Two in to Stage One and it took me a while to realise I had a 1x4 out of place which was why they would not connect. The connections are really secure and yet allow you to break the rocket apart easily should you wish to display it in stages rather than one huge rocket. When I say huge, I mean HUGE. Yes, the decription tells you it is just under 39.5 inches tall but somehow until you have built it the true size just doesn't compute. There are 3 "braces" included in the build so you can display it on it's side - good job too as that is pretty my only option at the moment. As a final touch can we just talk about the piece count? 1969 - just how cool a detail is that! - April 12th, 2021Average rating5out of 5 stars5.0The greatest set. Ever.I would recommend this to a friend!Purchased for: SelfWhen this was originally released years ago, I missed out. So this time around, when I realized it was being released again, I jumped on the chance to get it. The build is great and the end product is massive. You really feel like you are getting a ton of value with this one. The little details just make the overall build darn near perfect. I can’t lie, I wish I bought a second one so my son could experience the joy of opening it and building it himself.Play Experience5.0Level of Difficulty4.0Value for Money5.0Build Time: 8 hrsBuilding Experience: Intermediate LEGO builderWas this helpful?55LEGO® NASA Apollo Saturn V
- January 24th, 2021Average rating5out of 5 stars5.0Impressive build, but few questions remainMerit |I would recommend this to a friend!Purchased for: SelfI thought about buying this set for years until Lego quit producing it and I thought that was that. It was a great surprise to discover that this was back in stock so I didn't hesitate so much this time and bought it for myself almost instantly. It was a satisfying build as always with bigger Lego sets, but even after finishing this I still have some questions about some parts of its instructions. I wrote about this to the customer service, but I didn't get a reply, so I just mention this here again: what is depicted on page 94 (instruction No. 156), seems to be unachievable since there just isn't space for a brick combination placement like this. Maybe Lego can review that part of the instructions? That step is also the one thing that made me put this set on hold for almost 3 weeks, because due this I encountered problems with instruction No. 236 and 237 on pages 130 and 131, respectively. Sure, I found out that had missed a brick in each of these brick combinations and was trying to place them in a wrong way at first, but even after correcting it, I still am not completely satisfied with the result of the relevant part of the set. Doesn't look as neat and flush with the surface as it should be. Then again, anything isn't loose and it is a great set for displaying. Its length is crazy impressive.Play Experience5.0Level of Difficulty4.0Value for Money5.0Building Experience: Intermediate LEGO builderWas this helpful?55LEGO® NASA Apollo Saturn V
