How does MINDSTORMS® work?

Contrary to popular belief, LEGO® MINDSTORMS is not powered by magic… Instead, there are dozens of powerful motors, sensors, lights, bricks – plus a rechargeable battery and speaker – that bring the robots to life. You’ll learn all about them on this page!

Hub and Battery

Rechargeable Hub comes with LED display, speaker and 6 input/output ports!

Distance Sensor

Its LED ‘eyes’ and ultrasound can detect objects at an accuracy of +/1cm

Motors

Sleek enough to fit in the smallest robot, powerful enough to move the biggest

Color Sensor

Robots can now distinguish between 8 colors and different shades of background light
