Discover the Future of Play: Creative Play Lab Internship Programme. 🛝

Just imagine an internship that isn’t about observing from the sidelines?

What if you could help invent entirely new forms of play, explore emerging technologies, work alongside researchers, play inventors, engineers, storytellers and contribute to experiences that don't even exist yet?

Welcome to the LEGO Group's Creative Play Lab, where we explore what play could become next. As an intern, you'll join a future - focused innovation hub and contribute to projects, concepts and experiences that help shape the future of play.

What is Creative Play Lab?

Creative Play Lab is an ambitious innovation hub exploring new opportunities for LEGO® play.

While many teams focus on creating products and experiences for today, we explore what play could become tomorrow. Through experimentation, emerging technologies, research, storytelling, prototyping and insight gathering, we investigate new possibilities and transform bold ideas into tangible concepts.

Our teams bring together researchers, engineers, creatives, inventors, technologists, facilitators, makers and storytellers from across the world, united by one shared mission: To discover the future of play

Shape What's Next

Within Creative Play Lab sits Play Offering’s Play Discovery team who explore and invent the future of play.

We combine insights-into-children, emerging behaviours, technologies, materials and cultural shifts with hands-on experimentation to create new possibilities for play.

Working across creative ideation, play invention, model exploration, story innovation and child co-creation, we transform strategy and insights into tangible play experiences.

From developing interactive technologies and physical play functions to building experimental LEGO® models and designing end-to-end play journeys, we explore what play could become and bring those ideas to life.

Some of the questions we explore include:

  • How might children's play evolve in the future?
  • What emerging behaviours, technologies and cultural shifts could unlock new forms of play?
  • How can we turn insights into play experiences that children love?
  • What entirely new play opportunities have yet to be discovered?

The answers aren't always obvious. That's exactly what makes the journey exciting.

Learn, contribute and grow

At Creative Play Lab, interns aren't observers. They're active contributors.

From your first day, you'll work alongside experts from a range of disciplines while helping shape projects, concepts and experiences.

Along the way you'll:

  • Learn from experienced innovators and subject matter experts
  • Develop new creative and professional skills
  • Receive mentoring and coaching
  • Build relationships across a global innovation community
  • Explore your own ideas and curiosity projects
  • Share your own perspectives and expertise

Not Your Typical Internship

While most of our projects are top secret, we can tell you this: No two days are the same.

At Creative Play Lab, we don't bring interns into the team because of the talent they might develop one day. We bring them in because of the talent, creativity and perspective they already have today.

Whether you're contributing to ongoing activity or exploring your own curiosity projects, you'll play an active role in discovering the future of play.
