    All about LEGO® BOOST

Although the LEGO® BOOST apps are no longer available for download, the building instructions for the Creative Toolbox and Droid Commander are still available on the LEGO Builder app and the interactive features of the sets are available on the Powered Up app.

Connecting the Move Hub to the Powered Up app

Here are the steps to connect the Move Hub to the Powered Up app:
    1. Install the LEGO Powered Up app. You can find it in the App Store if you’ve got an Apple device or the Google Play store if you’ve got an Android device.

    1. Once installed, open the Powered Up app.

    1. Tap on one of the BOOST sets shown.

    1. You may need to allow Bluetooth® permissions for the app at this step.

    1. Tap on the Bluetooth symbol located in the top left corner.

    1. Press and hold the green power button on the physical BOOST Move Hub.

    1. Release the button once the light on the hub starts alternating between red, blue and green.

    1. You may need to allow the firmware update in the app, but it should start automatically. The hub will connect to the Powered Up app when the update finishes.

Hearing sound and speaking to LEGO BOOST

LEGO BOOST models make lots of cool sounds, but you have to make sure the volume on your tablet is up.

Vernie also recognizes sounds, but the microphone on your tablet will need to be enabled. Make sure the Powered Up App has the proper permissions to access your microphone and no external Bluetooth Speakers are connected—some speakers disable the microphone while connected.

Flashing light on the LEGO BOOST Move Hub

If LEGO BOOST hasn’t been turned on for a while, it may automatically download updates that were released while it was off. When this happens, the hub goes into a special mode to accept the update. The light on the hub will alternate between red, green and blue while it’s doing this.

A firmware update shouldn’t take longer than 15 minutes. If there’s interference in the Bluetooth communication, it could take longer than usual, or just shut off completely.

The firmware update might also end prematurely if the tablet or hub loses power. If your tablet uses a power saving function and goes into sleep mode before the update completes, adjust your power saving settings and try again. These can generally be found in your settings app, but the exact location and name can vary by device. You’ll also want to make sure the batteries in your hub are new and in the right position.
