Designers, architects, engineers and artists – everyone comes together at LEGO Design, and we literally come from all corners of the world. Meet Phoebe, Head of Design Community & Events
“My role is brand new to LEGO Design, the parts were already here but it made sense to bring the various strands together into one. It means we’ve grown from over 200 people to around about 560 with over 54 nationalities represented, that’s amazing! I am on a journey of facilitating and creating a sense of community, which is an exciting opportunity for me to be leading on. Finding out what community means for all in LEGO Design and what brings us together energises me every day.
Meet Micol, Senior Interaction Designer
“My role in the Creative Play Lab encompasses both physical and digital elements. It’s all about creating experiences that marry the awesome tactile feel of the LEGO bricks and what the LEGO system and physics allow you to create, together with the benefit of the responsiveness and immediate feedback that technology brings. The interactive experiences I work on aren’t just about you playing with LEGO bricks, it’s about LEGO experiences captivating you.
Meet Nico, Experience Design Manager Specialist
“Fun is compulsory in my job. As a designer, I’ve had the privilege to create some really fantastic models and, essentially, play every day. In fact, if I didn’t have fun, the quality of the toys would suffer - and that can never be allowed. So really, I have no choice in the matter. I’ve touched on everything from NINJAGO®, Monkie Kid and LEGO® Movies to IP themes, Classic and Art.
Meet Nancy, Senior Interactive Play Designer
“There’s that saying, isn’t there, ‘if you love your job, you don’t have to work a single day in your life’. I used to think it was a rather romantic way of looking at life. But, no, not here it’s not, it is absolutely true. I still remember when I received the job offer from Creative Play Lab, they asked "Would you like to come play with us?". We focus on prototyping play experiences. Our work probably won’t come to market for another two to five years. But it’s enough to know what this is really all about is building childhood memories. We have an impact in a positive way during some of a child’s most important formative years.
