Living in Denmark

map

Our HQ is located in Billund, which is a small town in the central part of Jutland, Denmark. It's common for many colleagues to live in different cities in the surrounding area. Commuting to work from other cities can offer advantages such as access to more affordable housing and better quality of social life. However, it’s important to keep in mind the potential challenges of commuting, as there is no train station in Billund.

These are the most popular cities for our colleagues to be based:

Community & Events

People house cover

People House

We’re lucky to have a truly global team assembled right here in Billund – with the LEGO People House at the heart of that community. People House opens the doors to you, your partner/spouse and your little ones too, so everyone can feel included in LEGO life. With a jam-packed calendar of events, activities and social opportunities plus space to relax, learn, play and connect, People House is a place to build relationships and break down barriers. A place to join in, level up or take time out. Meet new friends. Find new hobbies. And above all, make yourself at home.

Community Engagement

Local Community Engagement

The Local Community Engagement (LCE) programme works in partnership with the LEGO Foundation and local charities and other organisations to inspire and develop children through play in countries where LEGO employees live and work.

This is done through events and projects in collaboration with local partners to bring Learning through Play to children with a specific focus on children in need. The events and activities can vary, however Learning through Play will always be the focus. All employees have 2 days a year where they can sign up to be a volunteer at an LCE event.

Spouses meeting

Activities for spouses

We host events for LEGO colleagues' partners/spouses to come together with each other and learn more about how to navigate their new life in Denmark. There are many stories to share and experiences to learn from. The events helped in starting to build a support & networking community. These events have evolved into 'The Better Halves Club', whose members are meeting regularly for job search sparring sessions or casual coffee meetups.

We continue welcoming your brave partners to a series of events designed to help them navigate their new life in Denmark.

Classes

Learning the Local Language

When relocating to a new country and culture, understanding, and speaking the local language can make a world of a difference.

In a recent survey, most of our international colleagues mentioned learning Danish as a real challenge when living in Denmark. It takes time, effort, and perseverance. But it’s definitely worth it. It opens doors and hearts.

If you are interested in learning Danish, you'll be able to register for the Danish Language classes offered at the office by the local language schools in Billund and Copenhagen.
