Power Functions and battery use

When you’re motorising a build, the most important thing is often which batteries you use. We’ve gathered the most important tips for you to make your creations run smoothly and power your build.

We’ve found that alkaline batteries work best. Batteries with a longer positive output work better than batteries with a shorter one. They’ll connect better to the terminals in the battery boxes.

We recommend using non-rechargeable batteries because they have a higher voltage. Regular alkaline AA/AAA batteries generate 1.5 V and rechargeable ones will only have a 1.2 V output.

The lifetime of the batteries depends strongly on how long you keep your battery box turned on and how many Power Functions are connected.
