5 Fun Games You Can Play With Your Toddler (With a LEGO® DUPLO® Twist)

What’s the time, Mr. Wolf? It’s playtime with your toddler, but with a LEGO® DUPLO® twist. Bring an extra spark of joy to your next play session by thinking back to your own favorite childhood games and recreating them with LEGO DUPLO bricks.

Ready to ramp up the nostalgia and get the whole family laughing? Great!

    LEGO® DUPLO® knockdown

For this hark back to a classic skittles set, you’ll need to ask your toddler to build some towers using LEGO DUPLO bricks. Once the colorful creations are ready, simply ask your toddler to put the towers in place, then it’s time to grab a ball and let the good times roll. An activity that develops their hand-eye coordination, plus, they’ll have a ball doing it!

    LEGO DUPLO ramp race

With a few added extras from your recycling box, like cardboard tubes, it’s possible to create an awesome LEGO DUPLO track to race cars or ping pong balls along, and teach your toddler all about gravity, force and motion. Create structures to hold the cardboard tubes in place and get creative with different heights and drops. Now, you’re ready to race!

    LEGO DUPLO Simon Says

Listening ears switched on, Simon says, “Use the red LEGO DUPLO brick!” In this fun game, you’ll follow the same rules as Simon Says, but instead of physical actions, ‘Simon’ will instruct how to build (or knock down) a LEGO DUPLO tower. If there’s no “Simon” before a “knock down” command, then your toddler must leave that tower alone.

    LEGO DUPLO ring toss

Another childhood classic! Help your toddler develop their fine motor skills by building a ring toss board of colorful towers using LEGO DUPLO bricks, securing them to a LEGO baseplate. If you don’t have any rings in the house, make some using cardboard. Then, it’s competition time! See how many rings you can each land over the towers.

    LEGO DUPLO treasure hunt

Ahoy there! Channel your inner pirate and create a treasure hunt for your toddler to help their listening and communication skills. Take it in turns to hide the LEGO DUPLO treasure. Use the classic ‘warmer’, ‘colder’ instructions to help your little one on their journey of discovery. Then challenge them to communicate the same instructions for your turn.

    LEGO DUPLO spot the difference

Toddler turned detective. Create two structures out of LEGO DUPLO bricks that look almost the same but have five differences. It could be a different color or size of brick, for instance. Then it’s time to put their critical thinking to the test as they pull apart the structures to spot the differences. Remember, a few clues will help them along the way!
