A Legend Reborn: Bringing the record-breaking, life-size LEGO® Cadillac to the FORMULA 1 LAS VEGAS GRAND PRIX 2025

Inspired by Elvis Presley’s iconic 1950s pink Cadillac, LEGO® Ambassador Ben’s Bricks went behind the scenes to explore this legendary ride, uncover the records it smashed and reveal how this perfectly pink LEGO creation was brought to life.

At the LEGO Kladno factory, home to our large-scale builds, our F1® design team has constructed an astonishing life-size replica inspired by Elvis Presley’s iconic 1950s pink Cadillac Fleetwood Sixty Special car.

This showstopping 418,556-brick build (including a record 123,426 pink bricks), created at a 28:1 scale, took an incredible 2,000 design hours and 2,000 build hours to ensure every element works, not only for its super sleek visuals but also for functionality.

This magnificent brick-built Cadillac was created to transport the Las Vegas Grand Prix™ winners from the finish line all the way to the podium. Yes, that’s right, you’re looking at the BIGGEST, fully drivable Cadillac made from LEGO bricks. Mind blown.

So, how did the team manage to pull off such a large-scale design? Let’s find out…

The Cadillac Conundrum

Upscaling a small LEGO model by a 28:1 ratio to transform it into a full-sized vehicle was no easy feat for our team.

“We started by designing the small one ourselves, which took three or four weeks, going through different iterations,” says Design Manager Specialist Lubor Zelinka.

“Experimenting with the scale, we did a wooden mock-up of the whole interior and took it from there. This is the same scale we used for the F1 cars in Miami.”

The team also faced a tight four-month deadline; “Typically, we’d have 12 months on projects that involve life-sized, drivable vehicles, and here we had less than half that. We were building day and night with a group of ten people.”

The Driving Design

From brick-built logos to visible ‘pixelated’ textures, replicating this Cadillac out of LEGO bricks was an exhilarating ride for our team.

“Nothing is too small for us,” says Lubor. “We take pride in putting a lot of attention to every little detail.”

Taking inspiration from previous F1 builds and using existing LEGO pieces made the design process even more satisfying. “That’s what I love about my job, coming up with creative solutions to problems,” he adds.

Capturing the characteristics of the car through LEGO bricks was carefully planned to ensure every design detail had its purpose. We’ve got a burning love (sorry, not sorry) for:

…the cleverly devised wing mirrors made from up-scaled teacup elements held by a single-piece component!

…the gold accents from NINJAGO® sets that were used to create the iconic Cadillac logo on the front and rear of the car.

…the incredibly detailed and prominent Cadillac grille at the front of the car.

…the Cadillac logo on either side of the hood, made from gray LEGO bricks to represent the famed chrome emblem.

Specs and Secrets

As the official ‘cool-down car’ for the Las Vegas Grand Prix podium drivers, this remarkable vehicle swaps the classic Cadillac overhead valve V8 engine for a modern electric-powered mechanism ‘racing’ at 12.4 mph.

This replica weighs a whopping 2 tons, which is the average weight of a real 1950s Cadillac. It also features …(drumroll please)… authentic whitewall tires and wire rims, a smaller retro steering wheel, working front and rear lights, turn signals and hazard lights, as well as an operational LEGO key to get the engine started.

Other highlights include a functioning trunk with a spare tire (the first life-size LEGO car to have luggage space!), a radio antenna made from a lever element, a single round plate exhaust and distinct wheel arches with both gray and pink trim.

The team also added a few tailor-made parts along the way, including a custom single-piece plexiglass windshield for added realism and lights for a Las Vegas-inspired neon underglow.

So there you have it: one impressive brick-built pink 1950s Cadillac, a vehicle that embodies pure fun, innovative creativity and technical engineering. A true testament to the King of Graceland, and a ride we think Elvis couldn’t help falling in love with.
