Summon your tiny terrors to the dining table – for this spine-tingling LEGO® DUPLO® build. It’s the perfect opportunity to decorate for Halloween together!
This activity is suitable for ages 3+ and shouldn’t take you and your little one longer than 10 minutes. You just need a handful of LEGO DUPLO bricks in creepy Halloween colors.
Get to work from the bottom up by laying out the baseplate. Green works for grass, but red could be bubbling lava!
Using flat pieces for the bottom of the pumpkin will make it easier to give your pumpkin a round appearance as it grows.
Why not tie in a story while you build? You could cast a‘growing spell’ each time you lay on another layer of bricks!
The mouth should be darker or brighter than the rest of the pumpkin. Using a color like yellow will make it look like there’s a candle burning inside!
To create eyes, place two small bricks that match the color of the mouth either side of a center brick that matches the pumpkin’s primary color.
If you have bricks with rounded edges, now is the time to use them! Snap them into place at the top corners.
The final flourish! A stem or plant makes your pumpkin look that teensy bit more realistic (and much more fashionable). We’ve kept it natural, but a creepy color like purple adds a sprinkle of magic.
Before displaying your pumpkin, why not help your child learn emotional literacy by experimenting with expressions? Narrowed eyes and teeth will make it look extra angry, while a curved mouth makes it happy or sad!
Once your child has picked their favorite face, place it somewhere prominent so they can be proud of their contribution every day of the season.
