During the next couple of weeks LEGO Company will work out a detailed plan of how to execute the previously announced shutdown of the moulding operation in Baar, Switzerland.
The factory originally had a staff of 130. Of these, 11 employees have already moved to LEGO Company’s two other Swiss plants in Willisau and Steinhausen. The possibility of offering some of the remaining employees other jobs in LEGO Company will now be examined.
Originally the closing of the factory in Baar was scheduled for the end of 2002. In March 2002, however, it was decided to postpone the shutdown until 2004. The majority of the production from the Baar plant will be transferred to the LEGO plant in Billund, Denmark.
