Some previous ones (Bookstore I'm looking at you) weren't bad, I was just frustrated that they could easily have been much more than they were with little additional effort. That is not the case here, it's a well conceived and - on the whole - well executed building. It's not perfect but any means, but it's a great build and there are plenty of really nice details. So, the good. It's an impressive building, with good scale and height in particular. As a result it looks equally good as part of a street line up or as a stand alone item. I love the escape tunnel and spoon, that's exactly the kind of humour that makes these sets such fun. The water cooler is cleverly done, and I really like the idea of the creeper climbing up the side of the building. The building method for the stairs is very clever indeed, I hope to see that used again in future builds. And the doughnut shop next door is a touch of genius. The use of space in the office area and the second floor fits well with the theme, and I particularly like the evidence room in the loft space. And now the not so good. A slightly disappointing minifigure count for the cost of the set, a concerned citizen reporting something would have been nice. I also felt the space in the doughnut shop could have had a little more detail, some stools, a magazine rack, a bin, that sort of thing. I'll see about adding some of those myself. There's no drainpipe, so I've added one from bits in my spares box. I also didn't like the scooped out internal walls separating the station from the shop and the bed-sit. I don't know why, but that particularly bothered me. I think it's because they are right by the stairs, so figures can see into both from the station. It's not necessary to allow the floor plates above to sit in place, so why do it? It would have taken maybe two dozen extra bricks. It's the one ugly aspect of the whole build, and feels like a corner was cut unnecessarily. As it is I've raised the height of both walls. I also plan to build a proper stair up to the bed-sit at the back, that last arrangement just doesn't cut it. Something could easily have been accommodated there as part of a fire escape for the station. And lastly, while the climber is a great idea it's missing it's roots! So, again my parts box has contributed to fixing that. But the last, absolutely worst thing is not the build itself, but the instructions. I didn't like the black pages on the Mos Eisley Canteena set, and I don't like them on this one either. Please Lego, go back to the lighter coloured pages, they make it much easier to see and distinguish the case of different parts. All in all though, I'm nit-picking, and this is great set, if a little on the pricey side.Play Experience4.0Level of Difficulty3.0Value for Money4.0Build Time: 3 daysBuilding Experience: Advanced LEGO builderWas this helpful?55Police Station
- April 15th, 2021Average rating4out of 5 stars4.02 Missing pieces + 5 Incorrect pieces so farPurchased for: SelfI purchased this in early April and started building it few days ago. I was very excited to see such compact yet cute details this product had (thief stealing the doughnut!). However, the joy started to fade away one by one when I found out that two fundamental pieces were missing. Without these the building is left with two holes in the wall. While waiting for missing pieces to arrive, I moved onto building the next layer, only to realise this time there are 5 incorrect pieces which not only makes interior look different but also creates unstable foundation for the front part of the building. I will carry on building as far as I can to see if there are more missing parts/incorrect pieces. Then, I will make an official complaint because now the joy of building this cute quirky Police Station is gone. Instead, I now worry about what other missing parts there might be.16 April 2021Jayare, Customer ServiceHi there, we're sorry for any frustrations. - January 11th, 2021Average rating5out of 5 stars5.0Return of the Big Boys!Mawgim |I would recommend this to a friend!Purchased for: SelfFor whatever reason, I was hesitant to purchase this year's modular when I saw the initial pictures back in November 2020. After seeing more of the interior and seeing how tall the structure is, my wife and I decided to buy and add this to our collection. And we're very happy we did! The build is incredibly fun, with lots of fun details, most seen, some hidden, and the height and width of the set, reminded us of the buildings from the gold and silver eras of modulars past. Though we've enjoyed the previous iterations the last three years, it's nice to have a larger, new set.Play Experience5.0Level of Difficulty3.0Value for Money4.0Build Time: 6 hrsBuilding Experience: Advanced LEGO builderWas this helpful?55Police Station
- February 10th, 2021Average rating5out of 5 stars5.0Beautiful, colorful and very detailed!I would recommend this to a friend!Purchased for: SelfI am a Technic fan and this es my first build on a Creation building! Don’t get me wrong, my experience goes back many years and with kits like Cinderellas Castle, Taj Mahal, Millenium Falcon, Lamborghini Sian and many other thousand element creations. This was an exception since I have read so many good reviews of this kit that decided to buy it as soon as it was made available. No regrets! Over 2,000 elements, highly detailed and complex enough to keep me busy for a few days. I took, like always, my sweet old time, not rushing, but enjoying hours of building it. I do not accounted for the hours it took me to build, but they were long enough to turn into more than a week. Colorful in its design; intricate in its formation. The design of the three floors is just a work of art; the decor on the external front awnings and the way the tilling is designed to fit and display, just ingenious. Details like the commodes, the toilet paper dispensers, the jail inside, the donut shop: what an ingenious and realistic touch! We all connect policemen/policewomen with coffee and donuts! The news stand! Just wonderful and beautiful. The instruction book, well black pages would not be my first choice, but like most things in life, I guess will have to get used to them. That is our new reality, unless... Missing parts are still annoying! On this kit I had 3 missing parts that I had to order but thanks to my personal inventory, I was able to finish the build. Missing parts have been my main problem in the past builds, one that caused me to return a whole kit! On the other hand, there are always a lot of left over parts, usually small but in some instances in larga amounts! I am including a foto of my left over. Clear plastic parts: this seems to be an issue that comes up every now and then and there is a very simple solution. As they are packed in Lego and arrive to us in the many plastic bags, they arrive virtually undamaged, my experience. Mostly, they are damaged as we move them around searching parts to build the kit. What I do is, as I empty the bags, if I see any window or door frames, I search for the clear plastic and set them aside so they wont get scratched as I move the other parts around. It helps a bit. Tools, well my finger are a bit tired and swollen, so picking up small parts can some times be challenging, to say the least. For that purpose, I got from a veterinary friend of mine, a disposed set of surgical tweezers and using some very small heat shrink tubing, covered the ends so they would not scratch the small plastic bricks. They work perfectly! Of course, the Lego brick separator tool is a must! Price, well, if consider amount of research, development, engineering, amount of bricks, instructions book printing and production price, packing, box prep and printing and free shipping, I am very happy with the kit, it’s outcome, building experience and price! Enjoy your build! Oh! I forgot, we celebrate all seasons and all Holidays, that is why you can see a mantle with hearts: this February, month of Saint Valentine!!!!Play Experience4.0Level of Difficulty4.0Value for Money5.0Building Experience: Expert LEGO builderWas this helpful?55Police Station
