Easy activities using LEGO® DUPLO® bricks and paper

Make your LEGO® DUPLO® world bigger with just a few sheets of paper

Hey parents, grab your notepads! There’s a super simple way to grow your child’s LEGO® DUPLO® world, using just a few sheets of paper. From racetracks to farm scenes and even (pretend) fires, using paper is a great way to make your child’s existing LEGO DUPLO sets even more exciting. And guess what? It’s totally free! So, have you got the paper and pens (or crayons) ready? Great! Let’s go…

    Runways and racetracks

Whether it’s planes, trains or automobiles, it couldn’t be easier to make their LEGO DUPLO transport sets come to life. For instance, if your child loves their LEGO DUPLO F1® Team Race Cars & Drivers set, they can draw a circular racetrack (stick several sheets of paper together, if you like). Or, if they’ve got the First Time at the Airport set, draw a runway to spread across the floor ready for the plane to use. Then, let their imagination take off!

    All aboard!

Drawing big, wiggly lines on sheets of paper will help your little one practice those ever-important motor skills as they create a train track for their LEGO DUPLO Number Train – Learn To Count set. Why not think about drawing some scenes for the train to clickety-clack past, too? A field of cows, a town or even the seaside… your toddler can choose!

    As easy as A B C

It’s never too early to practice those ABCs! If your toddler has the LEGO DUPLO Alphabet Truck, boost their learning by drawing an extra-large letter on a piece of paper. Can they drive their truck along it, following the lines and loops? Then, ask them to match the alphabet brick with the corresponding letter. Did we mention we’re big fans of learning through play?

    Fire in the hole!

Help! There’s a burning LEGO DUPLO building that needs your toddler’s assistance. Kids will love drawing pictures of fire to spread across your play space, and then their LEGO DUPLO figures can put it out. This is a great one to try if you have the LEGO DUPLO Fire Engine!

    Fun at the farm

Whether you’ve got a collection of LEGO DUPLO animals, or a full set like the LEGO DUPLO Caring for Animals at the Farm, using paper is a great way to boost their imagination. You could create pens for the animals, ponds and fields or even a whole scene of a farmer’s field filled with fruit and vegetables.

    Let it grow

If your little one adores their LEGO DUPLO Creative Garden and Flowers set, then you can, ahem, grow their garden without having to get your hands dirty. Simply ask your child to help you draw some beautiful flowers, tasty veggies and maybe even a few bugs to add to your LEGO DUPLO garden. Beautiful!

You’ve got the ideas on paper, now it’s time to make the magic happen! Head on over to the LEGO DUPLO section of LEGO.com for more brilliant sets your children will love.
