In January 2025, a team of LEGO® designers faced an unusual challenge: to create a livery for a new racing car, and design a LEGO set to match - at the same time!

The LEGO® Icons Holiday Express Train (10361) is a festive set full of surprises, from the engine’s chugging smokestack to the bell-ringing polar bear surrounded by colourful gifts, which are neat callbacks to much-loved LEGO sets of yesteryear. But one element is a genuine piece of LEGO history: not the Holiday Express train itself, but the miniature blue train that comes with the set – the first 3D-printed piece ever to be included in a retail LEGO product.

In 1955, the LEGO Group introduced a simple yet revolutionary idea: that every LEGO® brick, no matter when it was made, should fit together. Seventy years on, the LEGO System in Play remains the foundation for creativity and endless imagination. To mark this milestone of this revolutionary system, we look back through the LEGO archive to trace the evolution of LEGO houses and the System in Play that makes them possible.

• More than one million children globally have used the LEGO MRI Scanner in hospitals to help them prepare for MRI scans through play-based learning.
• 96% of healthcare professionals say the model helps reduce children’s anxiety.
• 46% of healthcare professionals report a reduced need to use sedation or general anesthetic on children during MRI procedures after playing with the set.

In 2025, the LEGO® Kladno factory in Czechia celebrates 25 years of bringing the joy of LEGO play to children across Europe and beyond. Since opening in 2000, the 124,000 m² site has become a cornerstone for the LEGO Group’s region-based supply chain network, enabling the agility to share play faster and wider so even more children can unleash their creativity.

Through local partnerships, like SOAR365 and hands-on employee volunteering, the LEGO Group supports initiatives that help children learn, grow, and thrive through play.

Thoughtfully developed for preschoolers, the LEGO Bluey mobile game represents a new kind of digital experience, designed to bridge the gap between LEGO® DUPLO® bricks and the LEGO system bricks for older children.

The LEGO Group today announced the appointment of Fredrik Loving as Senior Vice President and Global Head of LEGO® GAME, effective 1st July 2025.
