My wife and I have been building the holiday sets each year for Christmas. We disassemble them after the holiday season and sometimes our grandkids get involved in rebuilding them. My wife built this set and while the result is a beautiful addition to the collection, the Elf Club House is more of a display piece rather than play piece. It seems that with each new model, LEGO is adding incredible detail which makes the final result look stunning but also adds tons of small 1x1 parts which are easily lost and can be quite frustrating to assemble. I had to help my wife at several steps throughout the build in part because the instruction books printed on black background obscuring the already poor contrast of LEGO colors. Even in the previous generation of instructions printed on lighter blue, color accuracy and contrast were poor. With black background it is almost impossible to make out certain colors and placement. Bring back the old blue books, please! This set, as others in the holiday series, are not very playable for kids under 10. The sets are fragile with parts easily coming apart (i.e.: "breaking") with the kids frustrated because they can't reassemble them. Increasingly we find building these sets for the holidays are for display only which is very frustrating for younger kids since they want to play with them; it is LEGO after all. :)Doświadczenie W Budowaniu Z Klocków: Intermediate LEGO builderCzy było to pomocne?35Domek elfów
- November 3rd, 2020Average rating4out of 5 stars4.0Another good Winter Village setGumbyKitty | 55-64Polecę klocki znajomym!I have all the Winter Village sets - they make a wonderful collection especially now that Lego has produced white base plates. This is a middle-ranker, and is the third in the fantasy sub-genre, the other two Santa's Workshop and Gingerbread House being among the finest Lego sets period. While any criticism is only relative, my problems are several. First, I love Lego boxes and have a huge collection but this one's awful black presentation is the worst Lego presentation I have ever seen. It also omits the invaluable list of pieces included. The inappropriate black follows through to the booklet, which is on glossy black paper making it difficult to read and poor to handle. As for the set, the four elves have the same green body - how more interesting were they when they first appeared for Santa's Workshop, in stripy blue on light blue, ink blue on red, jeans and Christmas red on green. Every one of them looks better than this generic green. As per normal, the roof is tricky and comes apart easily. The lights are a bit garish compared to the just-so-perfect lights in the legendary Santa's Workshop. The best feature is the triple-bed and the way it tosses the elves out at wakey-wakey time (triggered by the clock - how clever!) One more thing - this set is definitely suitable for anyone above 12. Lego has changed from giving meaningful age guidelines to "marketing for adults" which is their Coke-zero moment. Presumably the black goes with it.Doświadczenie W Budowaniu Z Klocków: Advanced LEGO builderCzy było to pomocne?45Domek elfów
- March 11th, 2021Average rating2out of 5 stars2.0Instruction book hard to readrjdboj | 55-64I was so excited when this set was release and I couldn't wait to purchase it. Then I read reviews that the instruction book was printed on black pages making it difficult to view the pieces. So I waited. But the set was so darn cute that I caved and purchased it. Sadly, the reviewers were correct! The black background for the boxes that identifies the pieces needed on each page makes it almost impossible to distinguish the black and brown pieces. Even in excellent lighting I cannot figure which pieces are needed. This is frustrating and does not make an enjoyable build. I hope this type of instruction book does not become the norm for Lego. It may not be feasible for Lego to offer a printed version of the book with white pages, but maybe they can provide an online version for the customer to download.11 marca 2021Jane, LEGO® Customer ServiceWe're sorry for the issues with the building instructions. We do offer the instructions online as a free download at LEGO.build/BI-BV! Also, you'll be happy to know we're working on getting away from the black background instructions!Doświadczenie W Budowaniu Z Klocków: Intermediate LEGO builderCzy było to pomocne?25Domek elfów
- March 20th, 2021Average rating5out of 5 stars5.0Fantastic Christmas KitLittlePjl | 35-44Polecę klocki znajomym!I treated myself to this to go with the Gingerbread House I was brought last Christmas. Although it arrived after Christmas I still built it straight away. My 6yr old daughter had fun helping to make the elves and then played for ages with them along with the reindeer and sleigh. Will look great at Christmas alongside the Gingerbread House. I’m sure if you do anymore like these my husband will look at me and say “You’re going to get that aren’t you” and of course the answer will be “YES”. I preferred the roof attachment of this set to the Gingerbread one but like others did not like the black background of the instructions.Doświadczenie W Budowaniu Z Klocków: Expert LEGO builderCzy było to pomocne?55Domek elfów
