For Malak, strategy is not theory. It is about turning ideas into action and making sure they deliver impact.
That mindset led him to LEGO® Education: a chance to work at scale, solve complex challenges, and contribute to something with real meaning.

From consulting to purpose-driven impact

Malak began his career in consulting, building a strong foundation in strategic thinking across industries, projects, and clients.
That experience sharpened his ability to break down complexity, structure thinking clearly, and influence decisions.

“In consulting, you often help shape recommendations—but you don’t always see them through.”
He wanted to be closer to execution and see how strategy plays out in practice over time. That led him into edtech, where he built deeper industry expertise before joining LEGO Education to combine strategy, execution, and purpose at scale.

Today, Malak works in business development and strategy, partnering with senior leaders to shape direction and drive execution. His role connects insights, priorities, and decisions across teams.
“A big part of my role is helping bring alignment—making sure we’re moving in the same direction as an organisation.”

In practice, that means supporting strategic planning, leading cross-functional projects, and turning high-level strategy into practical execution—especially when priorities shift quickly and ambiguity is part of the day-to-day.

Navigating complexity and creating clarity

One of the biggest challenges in Malak’s role is complexity.
In a global organisation with many priorities and moving parts, clarity is not always given, it has to be created.

“We’re often working through complex problems with no single right answer. The challenge is to simplify that complexity into something people can actually act on.”

For Malak, that means turning broad strategic themes into clear priorities, bringing perspectives together, and building simple frameworks that guide decisions.

One example was helping develop a simplified one-page strategic framework that brought multiple inputs into one shared direction.
“It sounds simple, but getting alignment on one clear plan is one of the most powerful things you can do.”

Working at pace without losing direction

Pace is a defining feature of Malak’s role.
“It’s a fast-moving environment—there’s always something new, and priorities can evolve quickly.”

That pace brings challenge and energy. It requires comfort with ambiguity, decisions made with incomplete information, and strong prioritisation. It also keeps the work engaging because no two days are the same.
“It’s energising because you’re constantly learning, adapting, and solving new problems.”

Building alignment

Because Malak’s work cuts across functions, success depends less on control and more on collaboration.
“You need to bring people with you. It’s not about making decisions in isolation—it’s about building alignment.”

That means understanding stakeholder perspectives, communicating clearly, and balancing challenge with flexibility—knowing when to push, when to adapt, and how to keep people aligned.

Seeing the strategy come to life

One of the most rewarding parts of Malak’s role is seeing strategy translate into real-world impact. During a school visit, he saw LEGO Education products being used in the classroom.
“Seeing how engaged the students were—that’s when it really connects. You realise the work isn’t abstract—it leads to something tangible.”

Moments like that connect strategic decisions to students’ classroom experiences and reinforce why those decisions matter.
