Grab your pieces and start your brick journey today.

You’ll need (to fit in front of one standard 32x32 modular)

    • 4x brick 4/3, 16x16 w/4.85 hole (part no. 65803), black
    • 4x plate 16x16 (part no. 91405)
    • 8x connector peg w/friction (part no. 61332)
    • 4x plate 8x8 (part no. 41539)
    • 4x plate 1x8 (part no. 3460)
    • 8x flat tile 1x8 (part no. 4162)
    • 8x tile 2x6 (part no. 69729)
    • 11x flat tile 1x4 (part no. 2431)
    • 8x brick 1x4x1 1/3 (part no. 10314)
    • 10x flat tile 2x4 (part no. 87079), darkstone gray
    • 4x flat tile 2x4 (part no. 87079), green
    • 4x flat tile 2x4, no. 235 (part no. 74085)
    • 2x flat tile 1x2 (part no. 3069)
    • 2x plate 16x16x2/3, w/8 cut out (part no. 69958)

    Step 1 – Build!

First, use two Technic™ pins to join each of the four 16x16 bricks to create your 32x32 base. Then, under the rear edge, run your 8x8 plates, before adding the four 16x16 plates underneath. This will give you the equivalent to a four-plate high base with an eight-stud platform protruding out the front edge. Connect the four points. This will be your foundation for your modular city to thrive!

Step 2 – Add your modular

With your base constructed, this may be the easiest time to either transfer your built modular over from its flat baseplate or to actually build your new modular straight onto it. The only question is, which will your choose? LEGO® Icons Jazz Club (10312)? LEGO Icons Tudor Corner (10350)? You’re the architect – the choice is yours!

Step 3 – Create your curbs!

Time for the main event… adding your curbs. Start with running the 1x8 plates along the rear edge of the protuding plates. Then simply add your sloped bricks onto these plates for a flush edge from your modular base. The great thing about the curbs being in sections is they can be modified. So, if you feel like it, you can add in steps or even a crossing point.

Step 4 – On your bike!

For that realistic touch, use the space in front to create a six-stud wide bike lane for your minifigures to put the pedal to the metal! Think whizzing minifigure cyclists late to work on a Monday morning or a couple enjoying a steady bike ride on a Sunday morning. Ahhhh, isn’t life a beautiful ride?

Step 5 – Connecting the roads!

Finally, clip on the road plates with the 2x4 tiles (use our pre-built basket or use the Road Plates (60304) set) … and ta-da! What tales will be told on these streets? Which minifigures will mingle in your city? You can switch up the stories whenever you like.

There you have it! An easily customizable method that’s super flexible for various layouts, leaving you space to let your imagination run wild and bring your visions to life.

No need to curb your enthusiasm with this method (sorry, we couldn’t resist!). Go on, build the town red!

Top tip: Using 16x16 brick plates also increases the connection between the buildings as they have additional connection points down the side. Nice!
