NASA Space Shuttle DiscoveryCreator Expert
Meet Dr. Kathy SullivanThe first American woman to complete a spacewalk in 1984, former NASA Astronaut Kathy Sullivan joined the team on the Space Shuttle Discovery and went on to participate in the mission to deploy the Hubble Space Telescope in 1990. Today Dr. Sullivan works to help break down barriers here on earth and encourage kids, and especially girls, to consider careers in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics fields.

The detail is fanTASTIC all over. The CANADARM and the Hubble are amazing additions to this set. I love that the Hubble fits snugly inside when the solar panels are removed. The mirror stickers on the doors were a PAIN to get lined up, and there are annoying gaps around them making it obvious that they are stickers. My 1 complaint is this: Now that I've built it, I want the Orange Fuel Tank and Solid Rocket Boosters used to launch it into space. Lego, if you offered this addition, I would pay another $200 for it. It already looks great next to my LEGO Saturn V. Adding the detail of the boosters and fuel tank would take this set to the next level.Play ExperienceAverage rating5out of 5 stars5.0Level of DifficultyAverage rating4out of 5 stars4.0Value for MoneyAverage rating5out of 5 stars5.0Build Time: 6 hrs 30 minsBuilding Experience: Advanced LEGO builderWas this helpful?55NASA Space Shuttle Discovery
- April 4th, 2021Average rating5out of 5 stars5.0Actually 4 1/2 stars....but close to perfect!LegoJay22201 | 45-54I would recommend this to a friend!Purchased for: SelfThis piece is BEAUTIFUL! Fun to build, great amount of detail and the Hubble is an added bonus. My one complaint is the lack of tiles on the underbelly...it's just exposed brick underside, not the smooth tiles that form the heatshield of the orbiters.. Maybe it was hard to do with landing gear, hoping there's a MOC somewhere to fix this. Otherwise, a close to perfect set. - April 20th, 2021Average rating4out of 5 stars4.0Dream come true... but QC issues!!MDMABABY | 25-34I would recommend this to a friend!Purchased for: SelfEver since I was a kid, I wanted the 8480 Technics shuttle set since friend had one and I've been jealous ever since. Therefore, this set sort of completes one of my childhood dream! The build itself was very enjoyable, well thought out, which is what you expect out of LEGO. However, I do have to talk about their quality control. The silver painted pieces on the Hubble are all over the place. Some look darker, some the edges looks worn out, some looks uneven and dirty... and the worst of all, the 2x2 curve tile all have 2 identical diagonal scratches on ALL of them. I also noticed the same scratch on the white ones but those aren't as important because you can barely see it. I can only assume it is a mold issue or something. Regardless, it is unacceptable from a company that prides itself in quality control. Felt like I was building a LEPIN to be honest when building the Hubble... Other nitpicks are of course the endless stickers for the cargo bay doors, the lack of a Canadian flag on the arm and stickers for the NASA and Discovery logo when it could have easily been printed out imo... definitely not deal breakers just thought I'd mention it. So, 5/5 for the shuttle but a 3/5 for the Hubble.23 April 2021Marine, Customer ServiceOh no! That's no fun. We're sorry to hear that.
