Expand Your Village With These LEGO® Medieval Town Square MOC Ideas

Enhance and Expand the Medieval Town Square (10332)!

It’s no secret that fans love the LEGO® Icons Medieval Town Square (10332) set, complete with five buildings, traders and a bustling stall. Often paired with the Lion Knights’ Castle (10305), it’s the perfect foundation for a thriving medieval scene. But what’s a town square without more traders and market stalls?

So, we challenged a talented fan builder to expand the square and elevate its storytelling potential. With a few bricks and a bit of imagination, they turned it into a medieval marketplace worthy of a “Huzzah!” Here’s how they did it…

    Thinking time

Every build begins with an idea, and our fan builder focused on the art of trading – the heart of any medieval square.

They researched real medieval marketplaces for inspiration, deciding to introduce fresh new stalls to the set. From barrels and crates to animals and baskets, every detail was chosen to bring authentic charm and storytelling possibilities to life!

    Designing the stalls

Then it was time to sketch out the stall designs using Stud-io, the digital design software downloadable from BrickLink. The goal? Create stalls that looked old, weathered and wooden – a surprisingly tricky task!

Our builder paid close attention to how produce was displayed, experimenting with boxes, barrels and baskets, using hinge plates to provide adjustable angles.

Pro tip: use jumper plates to twist elements slightly for that less-symmetrical, authentic look. Also, bars are great elements for representing wooden poles and posts, as seen supporting the roofs.

    Adding color

The next challenge was to add color – without losing that rustic charm. Using smooth curved elements to represent fabric-style roofs allowed for a pop of color, and then layering different shades of brown to create a weathered wooden effect. Nice touch!

    Finishing touches

Finally, it was time to bring everything together. Our builder arranged the stalls in a way that complemented the original buildings, ensuring enough space for minifigures to mingle and shop.

The base was built with green and brown plates, complete with a tiled pathway. Storytelling details – like abandoned barrels, a muddy pig pen (oink!) and scattered crates – were added to bring even more character to the scene.

    Now go forth, brave builder!
