January: Carnation and Snowdrop

The January birth flowers are carnations and snowdrops. The carnation, one of January’s flowers, has frilled, sweet-smelling petals and comes in many colors, each with its own special meaning. Its scientific name, Dianthus caryophyllus, means “flower of the gods,” and these blooms have been grown since the days of Ancient Greece and Rome.

These versatile flowers are a popular choice in bouquets and arrangements, symbolizing love, affection, and individuality. If you’re born in January, you can take pride in sharing a flower that represents something truly special!

Snowdrops are also January’s birth month flower. These delicate yet resilient flowers often push through the snow to signal the arrival of early spring. They represent hope, new beginnings, and the end of winter.

February: Violet and Primrose

The February birth flowers are violet and primrose. Violets are small, charming flowers with heart-shaped leaves and delicate purple blooms that often grow wild and are known for their sweet fragrance. These flowers embody loyalty and devotion, making them a perfect expression of deep affection.

Primroses are among the first flowers to bloom in spring, showing an array of rainbow colors. They represent youth and everlasting love, symbolizing renewal, fresh beginnings, and the promise of new life.

Fun fact: in Irish folklore, primroses are said to protect people from fairies! People would place them near doorways or windows to keep themselves safe from mischief and to welcome kind spirits into the home.

March: Daffodil and Jonquil

The March birth flowers are cherry blossom, daffodil and jonquil. Cherry blossom, known as ‘sakura’ in Japanese, is the national flower of Japan. This iconic flower marks the start of spring and represents renewal, hope and good health. Because cherry blossoms only bloom for about one or two weeks during spring, this flower also mirrors the fleeting, precious nature of life. If you’re lucky enough to have this beautiful blossom as your birth flower, you can celebrate with the LEGO® Cherry Blossoms (40725) building kit, giving you blossoms that will last far longer than two weeks!

One of the first signifiers of springtime is the appearance of daffodils. You can’t miss them – they’re bright yellow, trumpet-shaped flowers that light up fields and gardens after long winter months. Known for their resilience, daffodils thrive even in tough conditions, symbolizing hope and new beginnings as they pop up when spring begins.

Usually, daffodils stop blooming as summer approaches. But if you’d like daffodils that last all year round, why not try building your own set? Although LEGO® Daffodils are a retired product, if you’re a keen LEGO builder, you can get extra creative and try to make your own!

April: Daisy and Sweet Pea

Born in April? You share your birth month with two beautiful flowers: daisies and sweet peas. Daisies are easily recognizable with their simple appearance of white petals and a bright yellow center. These are commonly found in meadows and gardens and represent innocence and purity as well as a sense of playfulness. If you’re a daisy lover, the LEGO® Daisies (11508) set features daisies in different stages of bloom with some fresh lavender.

Sweet peas are known for their fragrant, colorful blossoms that add grace and beauty to any floral arrangement. They symbolize pleasure and beauty, making these a thoughtful and lovely gift for expressing affection and gratitude.

As a bonus, the tulip is referenced as a secondary April birth flower. Its meaning depends on their color, such as yellow for happiness and pink for good wishes. In its essence, the tulip represents elegance, grace, and perfect love. If you’re a fan of meaningful blooms, the LEGO Tulip Bouquet (11501) is for you.

May: Lily of the Valley and Hawthorn

Calling all May babies! The May birth flowers are lilies of the valley and hawthorn. May’s flower – Lily of the Valley – features small, bell-shaped white blooms that dangle gracefully from slender stems. This delicate flower symbolizes humility and the return of happiness, often representing the joy that comes with the arrival of spring.

Hawthorn, with its clusters of tiny white or pink blossoms that grow on thorny branches, is commonly found in hedgerows and woodlands. It conveys hope and protection and is often associated with love and marriage.

June: Rose and Honeysuckle

The June birth flowers are rose and honeysuckle. Is there any greater symbol for love than a rose? This flower belongs to the month of June, and is known for its iconic look with layered petals and a rich scent.

Roses come in lots of colors which all have different meanings:

  • Red – Red roses are a universal symbol of romantic love and passion. This association can be traced all the way back to Ancient Greece, as the goddess Aphrodite is often linked to red roses. For a fun or romantic LEGO® project, check out the LEGO® Roses set (40460) or LEGO Bouquet of Roses (10328) for red roses that never wilt!
  • Pink – The pink rose is often associated with gratitude and affection, commonly given to express appreciation or as a way to say ‘thank you’. The LEGO Bouquet of Pink Roses (10374) is a great way to show some love to someone in your life you admire. The LEGO Flower Bouquet (10280) also features dark pink roses along with some other beautiful flower types too!
  • White – A white rose usually conveys innocence and purity. They also connote feelings of respect and honor, making these commonly given at weddings and funerals.
  • Yellow – Yellow roses symbolize friendship and happiness. These are a great choice to give to a friend to express well-wishes or to cheer someone up!

The second flower associated with June is honeysuckle. Its tubular yellow or pink blossoms and sweet scent often draws hummingbirds and bees. It also shows devotion and the enduring bond of love, encompassing all things lovely – like sweetness, affection, and happiness.

July: Larkspur and Water Lily

The July birth flowers are larkspur and water lily. Larkspurs stand tall with elegant spikes of blossoms in shades of blue, purple, or white, creating a striking display of color and grace. They are associated with positivity and love, representing an open heart and strong emotional bonds. You’ll find larkspurs in the LEGO® Botanicals Wildflower Bouquet (10313).

Water lilies are serene aquatic flowers that float gracefully atop still ponds, their broad green leaves framing blooms in a variety of colors. They symbolize purity and enlightenment and are often associated with tranquility, peace, and spiritual renewal. See if you can spot the waterlily dahlia in the LEGO Botanicals Pretty Pink Flower Bouquet! (10342).

August: Gladiolus and Poppy

The August birth flowers are gladiolus and poppy. Were you born in August? Then you’re likely strong in character and honor, just like the gladiolus flower! This tall, unique-looking flower features trumpet-shaped flowers in bright colors. As well as strength, the gladiolus represents sincerity, moral integrity and resilience.

Poppies, with their delicate, paper-like petals and vivid colors, bring a sense of wild beauty to fields and gardens in the summer months. They symbolize remembrance and peace, often representing sleep and dreams.

September: Aster and Morning Glory

The September birth flowers are aster and morning glory. Asters are daisy-like flowers that bloom in shades of purple, pink, and other soft hues, easily recognized by their star-shaped petals. They symbolize love and wisdom and are often associated with patience, elegance, and a quiet grace.

Morning glories get their name because they open with the morning sun and close by the afternoon, bringing a touch of fleeting beauty to gardens and fences. They come in lots of different colors but are often seen with blue or purple petals, and also encompass feelings of affection and love.

October: Marigold and Cosmos

The October birth flowers are marigold and cosmos. If you’re born in October, then the Marigold might be the flower for you! These bright orange and yellow flowers are known for their autumnal warmth, as well as naturally keeping pests away! They symbolize creativity, beauty and friendship – so a bouquet of these is a great gift to get a friend in your life.

The other October birth flowers are Cosmos – flowers that look like they could very well be a cousin to the daisy due to their similar characteristics. They come in lots of colors and are easy to grow. These flowers represent tranquility and harmony, peace and balance.

November: Chrysanthemum

The November birth flowers are chrysanthemums. Chrysanthemums, often called mums, bloom in a stunning variety of shapes and colors, bringing vibrant life to gardens and floral arrangements alike. They stand for loyalty and devotion and are often associated with optimism, joy, and the celebration of lasting friendship.

Looking for a gift for someone with a birthday in November? The LEGO® Chrysanthemum (10368) is a great building project, with posable leaves and petals to represent the vibrant orange flower at different stages: one in full bloom, one blossoming, and two in bud.

December: Narcissus and Holly

The December birth flowers are narcissus and holly. The narcissus flower has elegant blooms in shades of white and yellow, often appearing in early spring as a sign of renewal. Named after Narcissus in Greek mythology who fell in love with his own reflection (and paid the price), the narcissus flower now stands for healthy self-love and fresh beginnings. The flower is also associated with personal growth and transformation.

Holly, with its glossy green leaves and vibrant red berries, is a classic symbol of the holiday season, bringing color and cheer to wintertime décor. It symbolizes protection and defense and is often associated with festive joy, warmth, and the enduring spirit of celebration. Bring the joyful red and green colours of a holly bough into your home with the LEGO® Wreath (10340) or the LEGO® Christmas Table Decoration (40743).
