LEGO Company - Code of Conduct Code of Conduct

The LEGO Group does business in a responsible way. We see it as our responsibility to ensure that our vendors’ actions comply with our high standards. As early as 1997 the LEGO Group drew up a set of guidelines - a Code of Conduct - outlining what it expected of itself and of its vendors. The reason for defining the Code was that vendors in many countries regrettably fail to ensure compliance with ILO and other conventions. The LEGO Group's Code of Conduct is therefore in several respects stricter than the general standard observed in many of our vendor countries.

The LEGO Group requires all of its vendors to give a written assurance that their vendors, too, comply with the LEGO Group's Code of Conduct.

LEGO Group’s Code of Conduct covers:
  • Child labour
  • Compensation and working hours
  • Discrimination
  • Coercion and harassment
  • Forced and compulsory labour
  • Health and safety
  • Freedom of association
  • The environment
  • Anti-Corruption

    Monitoring visits
The Code of Conduct is an integral part of the contract the LEGO Group signs with all vendors who manufacture LEGO products or components and parts for such products and licensees' vendors. In other words, they give a written undertaking that they will comply with the LEGO Group's Code of Conduct and that the LEGO Group is entitled at any time to make inspection visits.

If there are conditions which do not meet the LEGO Group's requirements, the vendor must draw up an action plan with the assistance of the LEGO Group in which a timetable for corrections is included. This is combined with a follow up visit to check whether conditions have improved. Through a combination of action plans and follow up visits, the LEGO Group helps to secure a program of steady improvement in the working conditions of its vendors.

The LEGO Group’s Code of Conduct will continuously be updated, please find the latest version under the link below.
