Congratulations! You’ve made it to the final boss of our gaming-related family activities.

We’ve shown you how to build an island getaway, a shelter, a biome, a shoe... and now, with the help of the one and only @mattmellish, we’re going to show you how to build a winner’s trophy.

Because let’s face it – winning certainly ain’t everything, but trophies absolutely rock. And it’s such a fun thing to do together as a family, too.

You can build an awesome trophy using the bricks you already have at home. But if you’d like to build the exact trophy you can see in the video, the best way to go about it is to search for LEGO® Pick a Brick, order the exact pieces and have them delivered to your home.

    Steps to building your trophy

STEP 1: Build a sturdy base

If you’re building a small trophy – or even a bunch of tiny trophies you can distribute to the whole family – the base needn’t be particularly big. But if you’re going for a full-size chonk of a trophy, then yes. Make it big enough to support as many bricks as you need. This may take a bit of trial and error, but hey – that’s what we like to call creative problem-solving!

STEP 2: Build a handle or two

Every trophy needs a place you can grab onto, you know, for lifting-up-and-showing-off purposes. It could be a nice pair of ears or a single one on the side, like a jug, or maybe a totally new type of handle that’s never been handled before until your family came up with it! (That’s our favorite.) Again, if you’re building a big trophy, you’ll probably have to tinker and retool a fair bit until it’s stable enough to lift by the handle. Creative engineering!

    STEP 3: Decorate and display

This example of a trophy is splendidly, monochromatically yellow. What’s yours like? Your trophy, your rules: feel free to add as many things to it as you want. Flowers, wheels, dragon fangs, engines, alien boogers... It’s a big win for creativity!
