Magnificent Display Piece
I would recommend this to a friend!

My 5 year old daughter's fascination with Lego recently started and we slowly bought some Lego sets. I was having some much fun with her that I thought of getting a set for myself, something that would be really challenging. What better challenge than the largest Lego set ever created! This was the first Lego set that I've built by myself since I was 12 years old and I loved building it. Now this set is very repetitive and it doesn't start to get really exciting until the larger back half. Going through this build I was in awe of the ingenuity and engineering in order to create such a wonderful masterpiece! I certainly learned a lot about the construction which I hope to bring to my own builds one day. This piece is truly magnificent, and Lego especially with the Creator Expert and Ideas sets have design such amazing details in their beautiful designs. There were a few missing parts and Lego is going to send me them once they clear the warehouse. Lego certainly has top notch service, they might not be fast but they are very accommodating and always look to keep you happy! This set is a beast. I am an architect so I love the Lego Architecture Series having built most of the Frank Lloyd Wright sets. I think that the set is as close as you can get with Lego blocks without doubling the size of the build. I took my adult children to the Colosseum in 2014 so when I heard about the set, I had to have it. I would not recommend this set for anyone who is impatient and be very careful about orientation of pieces, it makes a difference. One reviewer said that it took them 10.5 hours. Either someone was handing them blocks or they were taking caffeine through an IV. 20 hours is a more reasonable expectation, but really what is the rush. Enjoy it. We got this set for the whole family (two adults and a 10-year-old) for Xmas. Due to its segmented construction, it lends itself well to parallel builds by multiple people. Instructions are available online and we sat around the table with two laptops and the instruction booklet to build it. A couple times we thought pieces were missing but, except for one occasion, it turned out to be human error. In the end only two pieces of 4112980 (bag 33, step 212) ended up missing. Luckily, those are not critical pieces and we could proceed with the build. As a note, we also came across an off-color piece (6148262) with a discoloration. First time I have seen that in a Lego set. See photo below. Overall, this was a lot of fun to build it with the whole family. Would recommend to anyone who can afford to part with the cash for it.Response from LEGO SHOP
