Job Description

Would you like to focus on modern technologies to reduce manual work and increase the quality of LEGO designs?  

 We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer to join our growing team based in Copenhagen to help support our teams building the Model Innovation Technology.  

Core Responsibilities 

  • Develop data intelligence capabilities to address complex mathematical optimization problems, including combinatorial optimization, as well as challenges in machine learning and, more broadly, artificial intelligence. 

  • Expose capabilities using APIs and UIs to make them a natural element in the wider eco-system of LEGO Design tooling. 

  • Author tech documentation and software design guidelines to guide and standardize development. 

  • Work agile in an agile multi-functional product team, collaborating across a full value-chain of software products 

  • Part of ramping up product team and provide technical leadership to secure the timely delivery of optimized and reliable technical solutions 

  • Ensure that target architecture and implementation direction align with Architecture principles in all organisation

As part of our Model Innovation Technology organization, you will work as a lead engineer on one the teams developing the Computer Aided Design software where ‘LEGO creators grow ideas into exciting experiences. Our software is the birthplace of the LEGO models and building instructions we all know and love. You will be the first internal engineer on a product team focused on improving the “intelligence services” to augment and optimize the LEGO Designers work – initially with focus on Large Models used in stores, parks and similar.  

Do you have what it takes? 

  • Demonstrable experience in software engineering, with expertise in cloud-native solutions (AWS preferred), software architecture paradigms (conceptual and practical), and software development methodologies (such as TDD and BDD) 

  • Previous experience in leadership role, either as a technical lead or team lead, with a dedicated focus on mentoring and team development  

  • Practical knowledge and experience in data science and machine learning, complemented by substantial professional experience in implementing, combining, and integrating solutions for complex mathematical optimization challenges. 

  • Passionate about producing high-quality documentation and visual representations to communicate product development processes. 

  • Superb communication , capable of engaging and leading complex technical discussions and decision-making processes within and across teams. 

  • Demonstrated ability to connect and collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical roles, ensuring the tactical and strategic alignment of solutions. 

Nice to have experience with:  

  • Combinatorial optimization problems, ML and Gen AI  

  • CAD and physics engines, and a comprehensive understanding of rigid-body dynamics and kinematics  

  • Full-stack knowledge and skills - Familiar with event-driven architecture  

  • Qt, GraphQL, Graph Databases, React, Typescript
