Football legend Cafu joins fans as the LEGO Group unveils the world’s biggest FIFA World Cup Trophy™ in New York City

BILLUND, DENMARK 6 July 2026: Today, the LEGO Group and FIFA unveiled an extraordinary LEGO® recreation of the iconic FIFA World Cup Trophy™ at Rockefeller Plaza, inviting fans to experience the build up close as excitement grows towards the FIFA World Cup 2026™ Final and marks the official opening of the LEGO Fan Zone.

Towering 8.47 metres high (approximately 27ft) and constructed from more than 1.36 million LEGO bricks, the spectacular installation is the largest mobile LEGO build to exist and the biggest FIFA World Cup™ trophy to date.

The unveiling was led by former FIFA World Cup™ winner Cafu, who helped reveal the giant LEGO® FIFA World Cup Trophy™ alongside a group of fans representing the nations still competing in the tournament. Together, they completed the final pieces of the ambitious build, celebrating the power of football and play to unite people across cultures, generations and communities.

Cafu said: “The FIFA World Cup Trophy is one of the most iconic symbols in sport, and seeing it recreated on this scale with LEGO bricks is truly incredible. The craftsmanship, creativity and attention to detail are remarkable. Football has always been about bringing people together. Built by a team of 59 designers, engineers, model builders and technicians at the LEGO Group's Model Production facility in Kladno, Czech Republic, the giant trophy took eight months to develop and more than 7,000 hours to build and assemble. The installation forms part of the LEGO Group’s ongoing mission to inspire and develop the builders of tomorrow, bringing fans together through shared moments of creativity, imagination and play as excitement builds for the world’s biggest sporting event.

It also continues the LEGO Editions football campaign, which in recent months has included the launch of the LEGO® Editions collection, reimagining football icons Cristiano Ronaldo, Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappé and Vini Jr. as LEGO minifigures for the first time, alongside exclusive behind-the-scenes content and collectible sets designed to bring supporters even closer to the tournament.

Most recently, the campaign's “Everyone Wants a Piece” film brought the four football superstars together in LEGO minifigure form and generated strong viral engagement across social platforms, further celebrating the universal connection between football and play.

The LEGO® FIFA World Cup Trophy™ launches alongside the opening of the LEGO Group's official FIFA World Cup Fan Village at Rockefeller Center, transforming the Plaza into a destination for fans of all ages through creativity, play and global football culture. Alongside the trophy reveal with football legend Cafu, fans can explore interactive building stations, create personalized LEGO minifigures, contribute to a collaborative FIFA-inspired brick mural and enjoy photo opportunities, giveaways and other shareable experiences.

Extending beyond the Plaza, the Champions Garden brings imagination and storytelling to life, inviting fans to celebrate together through the love of play during the final stages of FIFA World Cup 2026™.

The New York activation forms part of a global celebration spanning markets across North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific, where the LEGO Group is bringing football fans together through the love of play.
