Build, Solve, Invent are the three phases in a new play loop that are the basis of the activities in the new LEGO® Education sets.
BUILD – Kids start with a guided build that sets up a fun science experiment.
SOLVE – They then open the extra bag of bricks to design their own solution to the challenge.
INVENT – Take it further! Kids can apply their learnings to new inventions to keep the story going.
These sets blend two styles of play. Kids get started following the building instructions. Then the second (SOLVE) and third (INVENT) stages are all about guided creativity. Kids are prompted to use the bricks to solve the challenges in their own way, get creative and apply their problem-solving skills.
All our activities come with a parent guide in the building instructions to support the parent as their kid is playing with the set. The guide helps to establish the context for the activity, provides one-line overviews of the different phases and includes optional question prompts to help parents probe and take the learning even further.
Yes! These sets have been designed to be played with independently with no or minimal adult support needed. It is also possible for you to play along with your child and have a positive role (and not just be a troubleshooter). You can even use the parent guide that comes with each activity, which offers question prompts to get your kid really thinking about their solutions.
