Prescription for Play

We believe that every moment of play can lay the foundation for a lifetime of learning, confidence, and joy.

In the earliest years, a child’s brain is developing faster than at any other time in life - and play is the natural way they make sense of the world and gain essential skills.

Our Prescription for Play initiative helps families of preschool aged children experience the power of play with the support of trusted pediatric healthcare providers.

How it works

There’s a growing body of research to show that play is essential for early learning and development - and that pediatric healthcare providers play a key role in sharing this message during routine visits and conversations with families.

We partner with respected healthcare organisations to offer free, easy-to-use play resources for families that fit into existing medical visits and practices, empowering providers to “prescribe” play.

The program is supported by free LEGO® DUPLO® brick kits designed to spark hands-on, open-ended play for preschool children.

Since 2020, Prescription for Play has reached over 7 million families around the world, with the help of our healthcare partners.
