We’ve bought every set in the Troll Wave one by one. As a Lego fan and Trolls fan, I kind of knew I would. My kids (4 & 8) have been playing with all the sets non-stop since the movie released. They’re Lego fans. But I’m also an adult fan as well.
These are so ‘movie accurate.’ I love them. We’ve set up a little world where each corner is a different type of Troll. There are even six strings (like in the movie), found in the different sets. My son acts out the movie and ‘steals’ the strings. My only wish is for more! More trolls. More different characters!
So about this set. It’s the simplest and probably the easiest build of the wave. The minifigure included is Poppy and she comes in all the other sets. So really, we were buying this one to have her individual pod. The best part of this set is the fact that the pod connects to the top of the Trolls tree. (We had to complete the tree!) It also comes with the little lightening bug and the map of the different kids of strings. This set is great if you’re like me trying to collect them all.
If you only plan on buying one Trolls set, I’d suggest the Hot Air Balloon over this one.
I bought this for my 5 year old for Easter. She hasn't really been into following Lego directions and this set is simple and a good starter for her. Not too many directions and easy to understand. She loves Poppy from Trolls! She carries around the pod to her room and back downstairs almost everyday! I like that it can be integrated into another play set or played with alone. She loves the bed that flips up and down. The only con is the drawer is open at the top and all the little hair pieces and scissors fall out. It's what I would expect from this price point.
My nine-year old daughter enjoyed the Trolls World Tour movie so she had that theme for her birthday party. With her birthday money, she decided to purchase this pod set. She has decided to continue to add to her Trolls Village and possibly purchase the Celebration set as well because she enjoyed this one.
There are so many tiny parts and they might be difficult to keep up with long-term but for the price, it was a good purchase for her and she and her seven-year old brother have enjoyed it.
I got this set for Easter for myself and to pass onto my 1 yr old daughter when she can play with it, and built it with my 4 yr old (it was practically him who built it it was that easy to do). I was expecting better quality pieces and build. When you close the pod the pieces (little unit with drawer holding spare pieces, brush and the lollipop and the sink unit) fall off, it actually does this as well while it is open and you touch it.
All in all it feels flimsy and inferior, not like the usual lego sets that I normally get for my son.
