ย
- Make sure the entire installation file downloaded
The installation file should be about 630 MB for the Home version and 855 MB or more for the Education version. If the file only downloaded partially, it sometimes helps to download the software using another web browser.
ย - Download from the right website
Here are the links for the downloads:

ย - Update Adobe Flash Player and make sure itโs working correctly
You can do this by visiting: get.adobe.com/flashplayer/
If there is a short animation of a light reflection on the red โfโ icon when you open the page, your Adobe Flash Player works as it should. Youโll get an error message in a yellow box underneath the red โfโ icon if there are any issues with your Flash Player.
If you need to install or update Adobe Flash Player, watch out for the pre-selected tick boxes so you donโt accidentally install any unwanted toolbars.
ย - Check your antivirus software settings
Sometimes antivirus software can cause issues with the EV3 software. The settings might be so restrictive that they accidentally block content, so itโs a good idea to check that the antivirus software isnโt interfering with Microsoft Silverlight, Adobe Flash or the EV3 software. Try disabling your antivirus software for a moment and installing the EV3 software again. To be on the safe side, you can disable your internet connection while carrying out this step.
ย - Check your MSInfo File (Windows) or System Profiler (Mac OS)
In rare cases, the communication between the EV3 P-brick and software can be disrupted by a different application running in the background. We'd like to have a look at the programs running in the background of your computer to see if we can spot any issues. You can create the MSInfo file or the System Profiler with the steps below:
For Mac
- Open the System Information or System Profiler app from the Utilities folder of your Applications folder. You can also just hold down the Option key while choosing System Information or System Profiler from the Apple menu.
- Choose โFileโ and then โSaveโ. Select a location where you want to save the file, like your desktop or the Documents folder.
For Windows
- Press the Windows key and the letter โRโ at the same time.
- Type โmsinfo32โ and click โOKโ.
- In the new window, click on โSystem Summaryโ to make sure it is highlighted.
- Click on โFileโ and then โSaveโ. You can name the file โmsinfoโ for example. It can take a while for the data to populate.
