LEGO® MINDSTORMS® EV3 Programming Help

It’s great that you’re trying to build your very own robot using your LEGO® MINDSTORMS® EV3!

As with any LEGO® set, we’re able to help with building the original model. When it comes to custom creations and building and programming your own robot, it’s difficult for us to provide the same sort of guidance.

If you’re stuck, it might help to look at the building and programming steps for the robots included in the software. Each robot is built in different parts, or missions, and allows you to open a finished program or create your own with step-by-step instructions. Also, make sure your motors and sensors are plugged into the correct ports. Your robot might not act like it should if you have plugs in the wrong places.

To find the program samples in the software, please follow these steps:
 

1. Open the software.
2. Choose the model you want to build and click on “Build & Program”.
3. Each robot is built in different parts or missions and you have a sample program at the end of each one. Choose the one you built.
4. Click on the “Command” icon to access the programs.
5. You can now choose either to open the finished program or to follow step-by-step instructions.

If you need more help after completing the steps, you might want to check out any of the various fan sites and forums dedicated to LEGO® MINDSTORMS®. While we don’t run or officially support these sites, they can be a great resource for fans who want to delve deep into programming.
