Building stronger teams together

When our colleagues put their heads together, awesome things happen. It’s how Stacy and Kirstin, Talent Operations Managers from our Americas and EMEA teams were able to apply what they had learned about inclusivity in hiring to a bold new initiative.

The Mission

Their mission was to encourage innovative ways of working that would bring people together across the business, and ultimately champion more naturally diverse hiring practices through our recruitment. So, they set about finding ways to connect people through these important conversations. And through their amazing efforts, they’ve been able to create real change across their teams.

We wanted to enhance our candidate pipelines and increase diversity within our talent pools. Kirstin and I had taken a Certified Diversity Sourcing Professional course, which armed us with the latest sourcing techniques and strategies, and we were keen to share our knowledge and build a sourcing masterclass program for everyone to learn from.”

We set out to showcase how to upskill and utilise the tools at our disposal when sourcing for diversity. We wanted to connect with colleagues worldwide to share practical tips, tricks and learnings and we were keen to ensure that all relevant talents are given a fair shot at consideration within the recruitment process. Our aim is to be very inclusive in building a stronger workforce of tomorrow.

A global impact

The scene was set and with everything they had learned plus a whole lot more the team of two set about curating and crafting an engaging masterclass with a particular focus on diversity and inclusive sourcing. The events were interactive and energetic and being virtual they connected over 50 Talent Acquisition colleagues from our locations in China, Singapore, Germany, Czech Republic, Hungary, UK, US and from our HQ Campus in Billund, Denmark.

Teams particularly enjoyed the interactive approach Stacy and Kirstin had taken. With live demonstrations in different sourcing portals to bring the techniques to life events sparked lots of discussion and knowledge sharing amongst colleagues.

Proud

It was really inspiring. As a recent new joiner to the LEGO Group, I was able to lead a global masterclass on a subject that can impact something as vital and significant as the representation within our workforce. I was curious to continue learning ways to upskill my own sourcing abilities and create lasting knowledge-sharing capabilities amongst our teams. And I felt inspired to bring these diversity sourcing strategies into their day-to-day recruitment processes.

When you add diverse voices to your teams it creates an inclusive environment where everyone is empowered to be brave by sharing ideas, insights and perspectives.
Stacy

"I must say that I was really proud that everyone found it so helpful, and they were sharing so much positive feedback. For me, this was a really great experience.

I also loved the global collaboration amongst all our different teams in Talent. Our challenge now is to keep the momentum going. We have started with the follow up sessions to see how things are going and identify any challenges. Learning never stops, and we can all benefit from learning from each other.”
Kirstin

Through the Leadership Playground, our leadership culture, we are encouraged to be Brave, Curious and Focused to drive real change. To do this our people come together in the conversations that matter. If you’d like to make a difference a real difference too, check out our current opportunities here.

Want to join the LEGO team? Here’s my advice

I often get asked in private messages how people can join the LEGO Group. In general, the two most important things to know are the LEGO Brand Framework and the Leadership Playground. Yes, it might sound like something that only exists on paper, but we use the values and the promises every day at work.

The Leadership Playground creates the space so that everybody feels energized everyday. It was created by LEGO colleagues, for LEGO colleagues, and is an inclusive model which makes sure that you’re heard, seen, valued, respected, and able to make a bigger contribution.

Our spirit is “Only the Best is Good Enough“, both on paper, and in real life. That might seem counter-intuitive to even be talking about Agile at the LEGO Group, but in reality, it sharpens our focus and makes this one of the coolest places to meet extremely talented and passionate people.
