Responsible Business Principles

Our aim is to ensure the rights and well-being of everyone involved in making LEGO® products and to protect the environment. We work in a transparent way with suppliers who share this ambition and commitment. Our intention is to build long-term relationships, work together to solve challenges and identify opportunities and to reward those who strive for best practice.

All our suppliers and partners must adhere to our Responsible Business Principles. We arrange regular third-party audits of our suppliers’ performance and work together with them to address improvement areas. Audits take place annually in high-risk countries, bi-annually in medium-risk countries and periodically in low-risk countries.

The 12 Responsible Business Principles set out our expectations for our own production sites, suppliers and partners and relate to ethics, people, children and the environment. The LEGO Group’s approach to working with suppliers who show non-conformances during their audits is to work with them to identify the root cause, and support them in correcting issues within agreed timeframes. Our aim is to create long-term, sustainable solutions.

We are a member of the ICTI Ethical Toy Program and support industry collaboration to address common challenges and reduce audit fatigue. While we accept IETP audit reports as a means of evaluating supplier compliance, we also apply our own standards and requirements and conduct our own visits and monitoring of supplier performance.

We are a member of the ICTI Ethical Toy program (IETP) and an affiliate member of the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA), supporting industry collaboration to address common challenges and reduce audit fatigue.
While we accept IETP and RBA audit reports as a means of evaluating supplier compliance, we also apply our own standard and requirements, and conduct our own visits and monitoring of supplier performance.

As affiliate members of the RBA we also commit to progressively aligning our own operations with the provisions of the RBA Code of Conduct. We will collaborate with RBA members and suppliers through working groups and multi-stakeholder initiatives to improve working and environmental conditions and business performance through leading standards and practices.
