The Taj Mahal in India is truly a fascinating landmark. AFOL (Adult Fan of LEGO) thebjjgirl visited it together with some minifigures. Here are five fun facts you might not know: 1. It took 22.000 construction workers, artists, painters, embroiders and twenty years to build. 2. Around 1.000 elephants helped carry the heavy building materials. 3. It is strictly forbidden for cars and buses to come within 500 metres of the building. This rule was put in place to protect the beautiful white walls from staining due to the gasoline in the air. 4. 28 types of jewel are set in the marble, amongst them jade, sapphire, turquoise and crystal. 5. A replica of the Taj Mahal is currently being built in Dubai. It will be four times bigger than the original and house a hotel and shopping centre.
