It is extremely detailed and looks amazing once it is completed. Pressing on the keys does make a lever click, but for some reason, the thing holding the paper does not move when you press a key. Also, the paper was a little hard to put in the slot. As for the building experience, there was almost no repetition and it had some colourful pieces on the inside of the typewriter. Overall, this set is definitely worth the investment.Play Experience4.0

It's intricate, the mechanics are amazing for Lego and it's really beautiful overall. I love the little touches like the paper feed or the return bar. I personally would have liked to have seen the keys be a little more springy but that's not something that takes away from the overall awesomeness of it. An iconic triumphI would recommend this to a friend!Hats off to the Lego engineers for turning a great idea into an excellent kit. It really captures the spirit of a typewriter, feels authentic and is thankfully a lot lighter but still looks solid. The build was great, and I love the really clever escapement mechanism that advances the carriage. I did find the choice of arm connector a bit unusual along with the instruction to push the carriage back to avoid the arm popping off. So I changed it to a 135 degree connector (I think a 32192). It was just strong enough to withstand the force, and bends a bit but then feels a lot more authentic. I'm a typewriter fan and have many machines, and it feels right, it looks right, and its green! Great choice of colour. Overall a great kit with a good balance of implied functionality, and an excellent build. I would have given 5 stars but unfortunately found a bent brick in the set, which Lego has now replaced.Play Experience5.0Value for Money4.0Was this helpful?45Typewriter - July 10th, 2021Average rating5out of 5 stars5.0What an amazing product!!Whyse |I would recommend this to a friend!Honestly, I would start by saying to take any low review with a grain of salt. This build is great and solid, the only weak point is the front under the space bar, don't pull it by that. I also would have liked a full base so you didn't see the table or surface under the keyboard, but those are minor and do not take away from the 5 stars at all. If you miss one of the steps or don't fully follow directions you can mess up something big time causing to have to back track far to fix it, but my advice on that, pay close attention to all steps. The typewriter does "work", the paper feed is tricky, mess with the angle of the mechanism behind the paper to make it work, the letter from the owner of the LEGO group is neat, maybe overkill to have 43 of them, but may have been easier than a different one per country. As you type the paper moves as does a striker and once at the end you can push it back with a satisfying clicking mechanism. Would have been perfect if they found a way to add a bell noise, but not sure how they would have accomplished that. The ribbon looks neat too. This set is going on my bookshelf and it goes great with the statue of liberty and bansai tree that I already have there.
