- August 3rd, 2020Average rating2out of 5 stars2.0First LEGO disappointmentMugu |Purchased for: SelfI have never been disappointed with a LEGO purchase before this set. The set itself isn’t that bad, but there are issues. I mostly build sets for the fun of it, then put them on display. These Mario sets have pathways between landmarks that make the set take up more shelf room than is necessary. As a set meant to play with, that may be ok, but the play itself (according to my 5 year old daughter) isn’t as fun as just building and doing your own thing with the Legos. Also, as a display piece, the set suffers because of the markings that trigger Mario. Having a lego goomba on my shelf would be more appealing if it didn’t have a barcode on it’s head. None of these things are terrible on their own, and I would be mostly neutral towards this set if it weren’t for my one big issue... the digital booklet. I want an actual booklet with my set. Every time I sorted through pieces, I had to unlock my phone again because it would go to sleep. I had to constantly zoom in and out. It made it impossible to enjoy the build, and the build is why I buy Legos to begin with. I’ll even buy sets whose themes don’t interest me at all just so I can build them, then take them apart and never look at them again (and I’ve always been happy with even those kinds of sets). I sincerely hope that digital booklets are not the future of all LEGO sets. I will never buy another set with a digital booklet. I could download the instructions and print them out myself, of course, but I shouldn’t have to. After paying for a set -let’s face it, they’re not cheap- I deserve a booklet.Play Experience2.0Level of Difficulty1.0Value for Money2.0Build Time: 25 minsBuilding Experience: Expert LEGO builderWas this helpful?25Mario’s House & Yoshi Expansion Set
- October 13th, 2020Average rating4out of 5 stars4.0Fun set, want paper instructionsI would recommend this to a friend!Purchased for: SelfI rated this a four because it doesn't come with paper instructions. The app took a long time to download (which is why I said it took 35 minutes to build because I had to wait) and I felt the online instructions used on my phone just slowed me down and I didn't see an option to turn off the sounds. I hope this isn't a sign of things to come, bring back the paper :-D As for set, truly adorable. Yoshi is just the right size, the house is nicely designed and the hammock is really cute. Adding an apple to it might have made it perfect :)October 15, 2020Morgan, Customer ServiceHi there, Thanks for your review. We’re always looking to explore new and exciting ways to play. One of those ways is by having digital building instructions that allow for cool features like zooming in or viewing the build from many different angles. You can turn off the app sounds by silencing the smart device being used, and if you prefer not using the app for building you can also visit LEGO.build/BI-BV and type in your set number to pull up the printable PDF instructions!Play Experience5.0Level of Difficulty2.0Value for Money4.0Build Time: 35 minsBuilding Experience: Advanced LEGO builderWas this helpful?45Mario’s House & Yoshi Expansion Set
- September 2nd, 2020Average rating3out of 5 stars3.0Cool but cost too muchLenny22 |I would recommend this to a friend!Purchased for: SonThis Lego sets are cool. They are just too expensive. Each set are too small for the price you pay. Plus they have remove the instruction book and have to download the app. What if you dont have ipad, mobile or internet like the kids? How are you going to build it? For the price that you pay for each set, they should have included the instruction book. I know that they have made a lot of different kind of bricks, (that must be the reason why they are expensive, have to make new molds) but they are really over priced!Play Experience3.0Level of Difficulty2.0Value for Money1.0Build Time: 30 minsBuilding Experience: Intermediate LEGO builderWas this helpful?35Mario’s House & Yoshi Expansion Set
- December 25th, 2020Average rating2out of 5 stars2.0Flawed on so many levels.Mocuishe |Purchased for: SonI was so unimpressed with this set that I had to write a review. First thing quality. Colours and quality of 9veral look was good but and there is big but, these Lego don't stick together at all. Little Mario House is falling apart even with light touch. Did Lego changed its plastic? Second and this is just annoying beyond comprehension, where there is no building instructions? Lego has audacity to charge so much for this set and will not include building instructions. Not everyone has access to tablet or smartphone. Or more cautious parents will simply not provide their kids with tablet or smartphone just yet. Overall an average set spoiled by poor building quality(very unusual for lego) and lack of proper building instruction booklet. For now I am stopping buying Lego for above reasons.
Response from LEGO SHOPDecember 28, 2020Sarah, LEGO® Customer ServiceFrom your description it's likely there's something just slightly off in the build. The best thing to do is double-check that your pieces are pressed together tightly enough and that there's not a part out of place. If you'd like a hand troubleshooting the build, or if you find that any pieces aren't holding together as they should, feel free to reach out to us at LEGO.build/Service-BV. You can also download and view PDF of the building instructions at LEGO.build/MarioBI-BV.Play Experience3.0Value for Money1.0Build Time: 1 hrs 25 minsBuilding Experience: Intermediate LEGO builderWas this helpful?25Mario’s House & Yoshi Expansion Set
