Job Description

Working at the LEGO Group Generative AI Foundation Execution team is a hugely exciting experience. And a superb opportunity to work with innovative technology in a diverse and upbeat engineering team. We are passionate about empowering developers with the vital resources, tools, and mentorship they need to harness the full potential of Gen AI technologies.

Join our team at the forefront of Gen AI revolution and help us build playful, innovative solutions for the LEGO Group!

Core Responsibilities

Come participate in design and build robust, scalable data and AI infrastructure that supports Generative AI solutions. Ensuring seamless integration of data sources, pipelines, storage, and model-serving capabilities. Provide hands-on engineering support to teams piloting and scaling GenAI use cases — diagnosing data, performance, and architectural challenges and refining solutions based on real-world feedback.

Develop and improve automation, frameworks, and pave paths that optimize data and AI workflows. Ensuring reliability, observability, and timely availability for downstream applications. Collaborate closely with GenAI platform engineers to integrate models, tools, and applications into the existing ecosystem.

Continuously evaluate emerging GenAI technologies, frameworks, and standard methodologies, and pragmatically introduce them where they create real value. Mentoring junior engineers and collaborating across teams to foster a culture of engineering excellence, learning, and sharing. Contribute beyond code by supporting developer engagement, internal events, documentation, communication, and branding that strengthen the overall GenAI community.

Play your part in our team succeeding

At the LEGO Group, our GenAI Foundation Execution Team is at the forefront of crafting and deploying scalable GenAI solutions, tailored to address our needs. With a vision anchored in innovation and scalability, we design service offerings that empower departments across the enterprise to harness the potential of GenAI.

Our mission is to empower developers with the vital resources, tools, and mentorship they need to harness the full potential of our products, technologies, or platforms. This translates into a multitude of responsibilities, ranging from technical advocacy, where we champion the merits and intricacies of our technological offerings, to content creation, ensuring developers have access to top-tier, educational materials.

We also pride ourselves on our community building, establishing a vibrant ecosystem of developers, and forging strategic partnerships that drive mutual growth. Our collaborative approach ensures that every solution is not only technically sound but also aligns seamlessly with business objectives.

This position will be in our LEGO® Hub in Copenhagen, soon moving to Postbyen, offering an exciting, inspiring, and flexible work environment – "and a little fun play as well!"

Do you have what it takes?

The preferred candidate is an experienced Senior Software Engineer with a consistent track record of building and operating production-grade backend or full‑stack systems. Bring hands-on experience and demonstrate deep technical ownership from continuous improvement.

The successful candidate has advanced proficiency in Python, including designing and developing high‑performance services using frameworks such as FastAPI. Are comfortable building APIs that are reliable, observable, secure, and you understand the trade-offs involved in scaling them in real-world environments.

Have hands-on experience with Generative AI systems, including implementing or integrating:

  • RAG (Retrieval‑Augmented Generation) pipelines.
  • GenAI plugins or agent-based workflows.
  • Working with multi-agent frameworks (e.g., AutoGen, LangGraph/LangChain, or similar) to coordinate agents, handle handoffs, and lead stateful orchestration.
  • Designing and implementing microservice-based architecture.
  • Defining, building, and consuming OpenAPI/REST APIs.
  • Establishing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines with strong quality gates and applying Infrastructure as Code principles (e.g. Terraform).

You are comfortable working with modern cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure and understand how to build scalable, secure, cost-aware, and resilient cloud-native services.

To succeed in this role, you preferably have competence within the following:

  • Experience contributing to open-source projects, internal frameworks, or research and innovation initiatives.
  • Familiarity with data privacy regulations and responsible AI practices.
  • Knowledge of AI compliance and governance, including topics such as risk classification, guardrails, documentation, audit ability, and regulatory considerations for AI systems.
  • Advanced expertise in prompt design and prompt engineering, with a deep understanding of different prompting techniques, patterns, and trade-offs.

Advanced English at a professional level both written and verbally are needed since we are an international gathered team.
