Where your bricks go

We are working with Teach for America and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston to receive your bricks and give them new life. By donating your bricks, you can help give thousands of American children the chance to learn through play.

Q: What is LEGO Replay?
A: LEGO Replay wants to inspire LEGO brick owners to pass along the bricks they aren’t using. Play has the power to change children’s lives. When children play, they learn how to problem solve, collaborate, and think creatively. The LEGO brick is so unique as it can be rebuilt, replayed with and with LEGO Replay have a new creative life with kids who need it most. Using the power of Give Back Box, you can pass on your much-loved LEGO bricks to share the power of play with kids involved with Teach for America and the Boys and Girls Clubs of Boston. Visit www.givebackbox.com/lego for more information and to print out your free shipping label.

QWhy are you doing Replay?
A: The LEGO Brick is recognized by LEGO owners to last for generations. We pride ourselves on the high quality and longevity of our brick. We know that 97% of LEGO owners keep or share their bricks, passing them on to friends or family. As part of our Planet Promise, we want to help LEGO owners ensure that LEGO Bricks can be rebuilt and replayed with – having a new creative life. We found a donation partner with Give Back Box who takes safety and quality as seriously as we do.

QWhat kinds of LEGO bricks can I donate?
A: Any and all. Duplo, small bricks, big bricks. They don’t need to be full sets. Just place whatever bricks you’d like to donate inside a box and go to www.givebackbox.com/lego. There you will be able to print out a free shipping label. You can then drop the box off at your local shipping office. The website will also provide you with a tax deduction receipt if you’d like.

QDo I need to separate the big bricks from the little bricks?
A: No. You can place any and all LEGO bricks into the same box. However, please try to sort out any non-LEGO materials.

QWhat should I do with any batteries?
A: Please remove all AA, AAA, and rechargeable batteries and dispose of them in accordance with your local requirements before donating. Products containing button cell batteries can be donated with the batteries.

QDo I need to clean my bricks before I donate?
A: Thank you for the offer but no, you don’t. Give Back Box will be sorting and cleaning the bricks before donation. To help them in their job, you can try to remove obviously damaged or disfigured bricks from your donation.

QWhat happens to the LEGO bricks I send in?
A: Give back box will sort and clean the bricks to ensure we are only passing on high quality bricks. Then they will pack them up to be donated to either Teach for America or Boys & Girls Clubs of Boston.

QI’d like to donate other toys. How can I do this?
A: That’s awesome! Please contact a local charity directly to see what they can accept or visit www.GiveBackBox.com to find out about other participating company programs.

QFrom what states can I ship?
A: You can ship from any US state including Alaska and Hawaii. This is a pilot program and currently only available in the US.

Q: I don’t live in the US – how else can I be a part of Replay?
A: How kind of you to want to share your bricks. We hope to expand LEGO Replay to your market soon. In the meantime, kids in your neighborhood would love to receive your bricks. We recommend passing them on to a friend or family member or donating them to local charity shops. Thank you again for sharing the power of play.

Q: I’d like to do a DIY donation. How do I clean my bricks?
A: Cleaning your LEGO bricks is really easy! We recommend that you clean your LEGO pieces by hand using water no hotter than 104°F / 40°C and a soft cloth or sponge. Higher temperatures may affect the quality of the elements. You can add a mild detergent to the water – please rinse the pieces well with clear water afterwards and you’re done. Please don’t put your LEGO pieces in the washing machine or dishwasher, and don’t try to dry them in the oven, the microwave or with a hair dryer. When the bricks get really hot they may change shape, which means they won’t work anymore.

Q: Can I ship from my country to the US?
A: Unfortunately, only bricks from the US are able to be donated during this phase of our Replay Pilot. We are looking forward to expanding to new markets very soon.

Q: When are you coming to my country?
A: We’re not there yet but we’re excited to see how the US Pilot goes and then roll out to as many countries as possible.
